McCulloch Stadium is a 2,500-seat outdoor stadium in Salem, Oregon, United States. Built in 1950, the multi-use facility serves as home to Willamette... University's football and track & field teams, high school football games, and the Cascade Surge soccer club. Located in Bush's Pasture Park south of Willamette's campus, the stadium includes a grandstand, football field, and track. The stadium was constructed in 1950 and went through a major renovation in 1993. After renovations, the field was named Ted Ogdahl Field in honor of the former coach while the locker rooms were dedicated in the honor of Jeff Knox. Around 1970 the track surface was converted to an asphalt and rubber surface, which was resurfaced in the 1980s. In October 1997, Liz Heaston became the first female play in a college football game, kicking two extra points in the game at McCulloch against Linfield College. A new $300,000 rekotan track surface was installed at the stadium in 2000. At that time university officials discovered the previous track was 6 metres too long. In 2003 the grass field was removed and a new FieldTurf surface was installed at a cost of $500,000.

The Port–Manning House is a historic home in Salem, Oregon, United States. The house was built in 1884 by Dr. Luke A Port. The house was... designed after the Italianate Victorian style. Under threat of demolition, it was moved from its downtown location to south of the city of Salem in 1975, where it currently is situated. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It currently is used as a private residence.

The Oregon State Capitol is the building housing the state legislature and the offices of the governor, secretary of state, and treasurer of the U.S.... state of Oregon. It is located in the state capital, Salem. The current building, constructed from 1936 to 1938, and expanded in 1977, is the third to house the Oregon state government in Salem. Two former capitol buildings were destroyed by fire, one in 1855 and the other in 1935. New York architects Trowbridge & Livingston conceived the current structure's Art Deco design, in association with Francis Keally. Much of the interior and exterior is made of marble. The Oregon State Capitol was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The Public Works Administration, part of the U.S. government, partially financed construction, which was completed during the Great Depression, in 1938. The building was erected at a cost of $2.5 million for the central portion of the building, which includes a dome of 166 feet . The wings, which doubled the floor space of the building to about 233,750 square feet , were added later for $12.5 million.

The Old West Salem City Hall served West Salem, Oregon, United States, as its city hall from 1935 until the city merged with Salem in 1949. It was... built using WPA funds. After serving as a city hall, it was used for other Salem government functions. The West Salem Branch of the Salem Public Library was established there in 1957 and occupied the first floor until it moved out in 1987 due to the building's deterioration. The Art Deco building was restored for use as private offices and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village is an interactive children's museum located in Salem, Oregon, United States. This hands-on museum was named in... honor of American inventor Alfred Carlton Gilbert and displays several of his inventions, most notably the Erector Set. In fact, the Village is home to the world's largest Erector Set tower at 52 feet. Originally home to the National Toy Hall of Fame, the museum sold the Hall of Fame to the Strong - National Museum of Play in 2002. Besides its interactive exhibits, the Discovery Village also provides summer camps, birthday party packages, and outreach programs. The museum is housed in several historic Victorian buildings, including the Andrew T. Gilbert House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places , and a 1998 replica of the Wilson-Durbin House, which was also NRHP-listed until it was destroyed by fire in 1990.

Jonathan Joseph "Jon" Heder is an American actor and filmmaker. His feature film debut came in 2004 as the title character of the comedy film... Napoleon Dynamite. He has also acted in the films The Benchwarmers, School for Scoundrels, Blades of Glory, Mama's Boy, and When in Rome, and provided voice talents in the animated films Monster House and Surf's Up, as well as the Napoleon Dynamite animated series. Heder was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, the son of Helen and Dr. James Heder, a practicing physician. He has an identical twin brother, Dan, as well as an older sister and brother, Rachel and Doug, and two younger brothers, Adam and Matt. Heder is the nephew by marriage of former NFL running back and current WCAU sportscaster, Vai Sikahema. Heder is of part Swedish descent. Heder attended Walker Middle School in Salem, Oregon, and graduated from South Salem High School in 1996, where he was on the swim team and was a member of the Drama Association. A 2002 alumnus of Brigham Young University, Heder worked on the short CGI animated film "Pet Shop", written by Logan Deans, which earned a non-traditional animation student Emmy in 2005.

Katherine "Kat" Bjelland is an American musician who is currently the lead singer-guitarist of the band Katastrophy Wife, and is the former lead... singer and guitarist of the punk rock band Babes in Toyland. Bjelland grew up in Oregon and moved to Portland in the early 1980s, where she met and became friends with Courtney Love. The two formed several bands together and had an on-and-off friendship until Bjelland formed Babes in Toyland in Minneapolis and gained considerable critical success. In 1995, Babes in Toyland released their final album, and the late '90s and early millennium saw Bjelland working on several side projects, including Katastrophy Wife. In 2007, Bjelland was diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent a year in an institution receiving treatment. As of 2010, Katastrophy Wife has yet to release further material. Bjelland was born in Salem, Oregon and grew up in nearby Woodburn. Her mother was Lynne Irene Higginbotham; her father was Lyle Bjelland. Bjelland's parents divorced when she was young, and she referred to her stepmother in later years as "abusive" and having a great effect on her life.

Between 1988 and 1994, he appeared in twelve episodes of the NBC legal drama L.A. Law as Judge Paul Hanson. He played popular and memorable characters on The Outer Limits, Lost in Space, M*A*S*H, and more. One of his most notable roles came in 1971 when he played Sam Beauregarde, the father of Golden Ticket winner Violet Beauregarde, in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. He was one of the last surviving parents from the movie. Stone started his career as a young actor studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He performed in the West End, on Broadway, and toured around the world. He traveled for eight years in Australia and New Zealand touring the musical South Pacific. He was nominated for a Tony Award in 1959 for Best Supporting Actor in Redhead, a Bob Fosse musical.
