The Peirce-Nichols House is a historic home located at 80 Federal Street, built in 1782, and residing in the Chestnut Street District, Salem,... Massachusetts and owned by the Peabody Essex Museum. Samuel McIntire designed the Peirce-Nichols House , circa 1782, in a transitional late-Georgian/early Federal style for Jerathmiel Peirce, co-owner of the merchant ship Friendship. McIntire remodeled portions of the house in the Federal style twenty years later. To the rear of the house are stables and, behind them, visible through an opening in the stable wall, a terraced lawn extends back to a small arbor. Originally the property swept down to the North River, where Captain Peirce could dock his ship at the foot of his own property. The house is a National Historic Landmark.

Gardner-Pingree House is a National Historic Landmark at 128 Essex Street in Salem, Massachusetts. The house was built in 1804 by Samuel McIntire in... a Federal style for John and Sarah Gardner. John bought the lot from his father whose cousin was the grandfather of John Lowell Gardner I. John and Sarah sold the house to her brother, Nathaniel West, to cover shipping losses related to events leading up the the War of 1812. The house was sold, in 1814, to Capt. Joseph White. David Pingree bought the house in 1834. It was added to the National Historic Register in 1970. The house is owned by the Peabody Essex Museum as part of the Essex Institute, and is open for guided tours. It features 18th and early 19th century furnishings. The house was the site of the notorious 1830 murder of Capt. Joseph White, whose death prompted a famous trial prosecuted by Daniel Webster. The trial inspired Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne. The house was one of the filming locations for the 1979 Merchant Ivory film adaptation of Henry James' novel The Europeans.

The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, may be considered one of the oldest continuously operating museums in the United States. It... combines the collections of the former Peabody Museum of Salem and the Essex Institute. The museum holds one of the major collections of Asian art in the US. Its total holdings include about 1.3 million pieces, as well as twenty-four historic buildings. In 1992, the Peabody Museum of Salem merged with the Essex Institute to form the Peabody Essex Museum. Included in the merger was the legacy of the East India Marine Society, established in 1799 by a group of Salem-based captains and supercargoes. Members of the Society were required by the society's charter to collect "natural and artificial curiosities" from beyond the Cape of Good Hope or Cape Horn. Due to the institution's age, the items they donated to the collections are significant for their rare combination of age and provenance.

Lisa Hammer is a filmmaker, actress, composer and singer and is the sister of director James Merendino She graduated from Emerson College, with a... BS in Film. She founded the Blessed Elysium Motion Picture Company, which produces German Expressionist films. Such works include Pus$bucket and Crawley, a collaboration with Ben Edlund and Doc Hammer, her ex-husband. She has also contributed to Joanie4Jackie, a film anthology project run by Miranda July, which featured Hammer's film Empire of Ache starring Dame Darcy. Lisa Hammer collaborated with Dame Darcy on the weekly television show Turn of the Century, a New York City Public-access television cable TV show done in a German Expressionist manner that lasted from 1996 to 1999. The show featured various New York personalities, including Daria Klotz , Jennifer Nixon as Queen Itchie, Bliss Blood, Maude Swift as Secretary Jenny and guests such as Thurston Moore and Courtney Love. It was cited by New York Magazine as "the best public access show of 1997" and has been syndicated on public access stations around the U.S.

Mary Lou Lord first gained notice playing acoustic guitar and singing in and... around Boston's subway stations Lord became friends with Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain in the fall of 1991, before the group's rise to mainstream fame. The nature of Lord and Cobain's relationship was later rumored to be of a romantic nature. This claim was refuted by Cobain and Lord, and both perpetuated and refuted by Courtney Love. Lord toured three separate times with Elliott Smith during the 1990s. Smith also wrote and helped Lord record a song called "I Figured You Out" in 1997. Her recordings have been a mixture of covers and original material, with a number of songs written by, or in collaboration with, Nick Saloman of the British band The Bevis Frond.

Rob Potylo is a Boston-based musician/comedian/performance artist. He has performed at music venues, and comedy clubs with his band, his character... Robby Roadsteamer, or as a solo performer. Rob has been a staple of the Greater Boston music and comedy scene for years, he currently is residing in Allston, Massachusetts. The character he developed "Robby Roadsteamer" is part Tony Clifton, part pro wrestler; usually appearing onstage in a wig, fake mustache and sunglasses. Roadsteamer was a disc jockey on WBCN. Roadsteamer's band has been nominated for "Live Band of the Year" at the Boston Music Awards three times. During the 2006 ceremony, while presenting "local song of the year" , he stated that the Boston Music Awards was a "plastic piece of shit," and that "everyone knows the winners ahead of time." Roadsteamer asked to present the trophy to the winners, The Snowleopards, when he instead declared himself the winner and fled the venue with the trophy. In September 2007, Potylo appeared in an episode of a reality dating show called Sox Appeal which was broadcast on New England Sports Network .

Henry Ward Poole was an American surveyor, civil engineer, educator and writer on and inventor of systems of musical tuning. He was brother of the... famous librarian William Frederick Poole, and cousin of the celebrated humorist, journalist and politician Fitch Poole. Poole was born 13 September 1825 in Salem, Massachusetts , son of Ward Poole and Elizabeth Wilder . He attended Leicester Academy, and Yale University in 1841 and 1842.. He worked up to 1850 at Newburyport, Massachusetts with organ maker Joseph Alley and minister Henry James Hudson developing a euharmonic, or enharmonic organ which they patented and solicited by mail, and which was awarded a gold medal at the 1850 Exhibition of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association. It was installed at Indiana Place Chapel, Boston, Massachusetts and remained in use for fifteen years. Poole patented a special keyboard to be used with his extended tuning system in 1868. In 1851 and 1852 Poole assisted August A. Dalson under Pennsylvania state geologist Henry D. Rogers, based in Pottsville, on the state survey organized by Geological Society of Pennsylvania.

Al Ruscio is an American character actor who has appeared in numerous television series and film. He graduated from Salem High School . Born in... Salem, Massachusetts, Ruscio has spent most of his acting career playing character roles. After graduating college he moved to New York City and trained for two years at The Neighborhood Playhouse School for the Theater. He played many roles in New York and in summer stock, including co-starring with Steve McQueen and Kim Stanley among others. His first work in live television came in New York City. He moved to Los Angeles in 1958. His first role there was Tony in Al Capone with Rod Steiger . He then appeared in many television shows including Gunsmoke , 77 Sunset Strip , Bonanza , and in Peter Gunn . He has also acted in soap operas including Port Charles, Days of our Lives and Santa Barbara as R. J. Bentson. Ruscio has made repeated guest appearances on The Lawless Years, The Untouchables, The Rockford Files, Lou Grant, Barney Miller, Hill Street Blues, and 7th Heaven. He has also had recurring roles on Falcon Crest, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Life Goes On, and Manhattan, AZ.
