James D. Meindl is director of the Joseph M. Pettit Microelectronics Research Center, director of the Marcus Nanotechnology Research Center, and... Pettit Chair Professor of Microelectronics at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He won the 2006 IEEE Medal of Honor "for pioneering contributions to microelectronics, including low power, biomedical, physical limits and on-chip interconnect networks.” Dr. Meindl also serves on the board of directors of SanDisk Corporation and Zoran Corporation and previously of Stratex Networks. Among his more than 80 doctoral students include T. J. Rodgers, founder of Cypress Semiconductor, William R. Brody, president of Johns Hopkins University, Levy Gerzberg, founder of Zoran Corporation, Jim Plummer, dean of engineering at Stanford University, L. Rafael Reif, provost of MIT, Richard Swanson, founder of SunPower Corporation, Steve Combs, founder of Maxim Integrated Products, Nicky Lu, founder of Etron Technology and Krishna Saraswat, professor at Stanford University.

Joseph Mayo Pettit was an engineer who became president of the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1972 to 1986. Pettit was born in Rochester,... Minnesota. He earned a B.S. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1938, an Engineer degree from Stanford University in 1940, and a Ph.D. from Stanford in 1942. He was president of the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1972 to 1986. He died in Atlanta, GA. Pettit was awarded the President's Certificate of Merit in 1949. The Joseph Mayo Pettit Distinguished Service Award, conferred by the Georgia Tech ANAK Society, is named after Pettit.

Michael E. Marks has served as a member of the Board of Directors since December 1991 and as Chairman of the Board of Flextronics since January 2006.... He served as Chief Executive Officer of Flextronics from January 1994 to December 2005. Mr. Marks currently manages a private equity fund called Bigwood Capital, which invests in rapidly growing private companies, in North America and in emerging markets. He is also interim CEO of Tesla Motors, a company in the process of launching an all electric sports car. Tesla Motors is a Bigwood Capital investment.
