Hollywood Records is an American record label focusing on Pop, Rock, Alternative and Teen Pop generes. It was founded in 1989 and is one of the major DMG labels. Its current roster includes artists such as: Queen, Plain White T's, Jesse McCartney, Breaking Benjamin, Jessica Sutta, Miley Cyrus, Demi... Lovato, Selena Gomez & the Scene, Cherri Bomb, Stefano Langone and Bridgit Mendler. Hollywood Records was founded in 1989 by Michael Eisner with the idea of expanding the music operations of Disney Enterprises Inc. and to develop and promote the careers of a wide variety of artists in various genres. However, the label struggled to launch a successful artist, and in 1991 the label had significant financial loss. The only major success was the agreement to be the catalog distributors of Queen, a fact affected by the death of vocalist Freddie Mercury. Label problems continued and even years after the acquisition of Mammoth Records in 1997 was seen as a sign of the search by Disney for a record label that would give success to the company.

Fascination Records is a UK-based record label, owned by Universal Music Group, and operated as an imprint of Polydor Records. The label was launched in spring 2006, and is managed by former TOTP Magazine editor Peter Loraine. It concentrates on a relatively small number of pop acts and will... complement the re-activated Fiction rock imprint. A five piece girl group, The Saturdays consist of Frankie Sandford and Rochelle Wiseman, formerly of S Club 8, along with Mollie King, Una Healy and Vanessa White. They have supported Girls Aloud on the tour for their Tangled Up album and fellow labelmates Jonas Brothers at one of their recent live dates in London. Their first single, "If This Is Love" was released on 28 July 2008 and peaked at no. 8 in the UK singles chart. The follow-up single, "Up" was released on 13 October 2008 and peaked at no. 5 in the UK singles chart. Up has become their best selling single, shifting over 311,000 copies. The debut album, titled Chasing Lights was released on 27 October 2008 and received very favourable reviews from The Times and The Guardian. The album debuted at no. 9 in the UK. In January 2009, The Saturdays released their third single "Issues".

Avex Trax is a record label owned by Japanese entertainment conglomerate Avex Group. The label was launched in September 1990, and was the first label by the Group. Two years after Max Matsuura became busy in distributing studio albums from other countries, he and his two co-founders of Avex, Tom... Yoda and Ken Suzuki, decided to operate their own label to compete with the older and more experienced labels . This led to the birth of the Avex Trax label. Some of their artists include Japanese artists such as AAA, Ai Otsuka, Namie Amuro, Do As Infinity, Every Little Thing, Gackt, Girl Next Door, Ayumi Hamasaki, Mai Oshima, Seikima-II, DREAM5, S2nd and Tokyo Girls' Style, as well as foreign artists such as BoA, TVXQ, After School, CSJH The Grace, 2NE1 , Super Junior, O-Zone., U-KISS and Lights Over Paris. In 2011 they start to support and Kis-My-Ft2.

Pop music is a genre of popular music which originated in its modern form in the 1950s, deriving from rock and roll. The terms popular music and pop... music are often used interchangeably, even though the former is a description of music which is popular , whilst the latter is a specific genre containing qualities of mass appeal. As a genre, pop music is very eclectic, often borrowing elements from other styles including urban, dance, rock, Latin and country; nonetheless, there are core elements which define pop. Such include generally short-to-medium length songs, written in a basic format , as well as the common employment of repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and catchy hooks. So-called "pure pop" music, such as power pop, features all these elements, utilising electric guitars, drums and bass for instrumentation; in the case of such music, the main goal is usually that of being pleasurable to listen to, rather than having much artistic depth.

Rock music is a genre of popular music that developed during and after the 1960s, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis. The dominance of rock by white, male musicians has been seen as one of the key factors shaping the themes explored in rock music. Rock places a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship, live performance, and an ideology of authenticity than pop music.
