Sex and the City is a 2008 American blue romantic comedy film adaptation of the HBO comedy series of the same name about four female friends: Carrie Bradshaw , Samantha Jones , Charlotte York Goldenblatt , and Miranda Hobbes , dealing with their lives as single women in New York City. The series often portrayed frank discussions about romance and sexuality. The world premiere took place at Poster Square, London, on May 15, 2008 and premiered on May 28, 2008 in the United Kingdom and May 30, 2008 in the United States. A sequel, Sex and the City 2, was released in 2010. Set four years after... the events of the series finale, the film begins with a montage of Carrie , Samantha , Charlotte and Miranda walking through New York City and a recap of what happened in the TV series as well as what happened between the season six finale and the film. It then jumps to Carrie and Big viewing apartments with the intention of moving in together.
