Shaun Michael Cody is an American football nose tackle for the Houston Texans of the National Football League . He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Southern California. Cody was born in Whittier, California. He attended Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights. Cody also garnered USA Today All-USA Defensive MVP. He played in the first ever U.S. Army All-American Bowl game on December 30, 2000. Cody attended the University of Southern California, and played for the USC Trojans football team from 2001 to 2004. He was... recognized as a consensus first-team All-American as a senior in 2004, after he had a career-high 45 tackles , 10 sacks, 13 stops for losses, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three pass deflections. He was team captain and voted PAC-10 co-Defensive Player of the Year. He was the first Trojan since Chris Claiborne in 1998 to garner Pac-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors. Cody started for his third season as a junior defensive tackle in 2003, starting all 13 games, he had 26 tackles, including 10.
