Shenyang

The Mukden Palace or Shenyang Gugong , also known as the Shenyang Imperial Palace, is the former imperial palace of the early Qing Dynasty of China.... It was built in 1625 and the first three Qing emperors lived there from 1625 to 1644. It is located in the center of the city of Mukden, Manchuria . Early construction began in 1625 by Nurhaci. By 1631, additional structures were added under Emperor Huang Taiji. The Mukden Palace was built to resemble the Forbidden City in Beijing. However, the palace also exhibits hints of Manchurian and Tibetan styles. After the Qing Dynasty replaced the Ming Dynasty in 1644 in Beijing, the Mukden palace lost its status as the official residence of the Emperor. Instead, the Mukden Palace became a regional palace. In 1780, Emperor Qianlong further expanded the palace. Successive Qing dynasty emperors usually stayed at Mukden Palace for some time each year. In 1955, Mukden Palace was converted into the Shenyang Palace Museum.

Jin Xing is a ballerina, modern dancer, choreographer and actress from the People's Republic of China, and owner of the contemporary dance company... "Shanghai Jin Xing Dance Theatre". Although usually credited as Jing Xing, the proper pinyin spelling is Jin Xing. She is one of the first few transgender women officially recognised by the Chinese government. Born as a male to ethnic Korean parents, Jin studied in a local Korean elementary school. Her father worked in the police department. She was praised as highly intelligent, and had won abacus contests many times . She expressed high enthusiasm in dance performance. At the age of 9 she joined the People's Liberation Army to receive dance and military training ; she became a member of the military's dance troupe, and eventually attained the rank of colonel. She experienced strong transsexual desires early in life. She said she would stay outside during rain, and wish that a lightning strike would turn her body female . Later she won the national dance contest with a piece of Central Asian ethnic dance.

Lang Lang , born June 14, 1982, in Shenyang, Liaoning, China, is a Chinese concert pianist, currently residing in New York, who has performed with... leading orchestras in Europe, the United States and his native China. He is increasingly well known around the world for his concert performances, television appearances, albums and soundtracks. Lang has done much to encourage children and young musicians to take an interest in classical music, especially through the international foundation he launched in New York in 2008. Lang Lang, which means "brilliance of the sky", was born in Shenyang, China. His father Lang Guoren is also a musician, who specializes in the erhu, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument. At the age of two, Lang watched the Tom and Jerry episode The Cat Concerto which features the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt. According to Lang, this first contact with Western music is what motivated him to learn piano. He began lessons with Professor Zhu Ya-Fen at age three. At the age of five, he won first place at the Shenyang Piano Competition and performed his first public recital.

Na Ying is a Chinese vocalist. She is considered as one of the best present-day female singers in Mainland China, having sold more than 10 million... albums. She is also noted for her buoyant and forthright personality. She was born in Shenyang, Liaoning. She is an ethnic Manchu, said to be of the Yehe Nara clan. Na won several national singing contests in the 1980s, and in 1988 began her recording career in Taiwan and Hong Kong. She released her first album in 1994 called "Dreaming with you". After that she published more successful albums, turning into one of the most loved mandopop artists of Mainland China. At the 1998 Spring Festival Gala show hosted by CCTV, Na Ying sang a duet "Meet in '98" with her friend Faye Wong. Wong had already achieved fame in Hong Kong and elsewhere, but the performance with Na brought her to superstar status in China itself. Na Ying had a relationship with Chinese footballer Gao Feng and had a son, but the two broke up in 2005. She married Meng Tong in 2006.

Seiji Ozawa is a Japanese conductor, particularly noted for his interpretations of large-scale late Romantic works. He is most known for his work as... music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and principal conductor of the Vienna State Opera. Seiji Ozawa was born on September 1, 1935 to Japanese parents in the city of Mukden, Manchukuo . When his family returned to Japan in 1944, he began studying piano with Noboru Toyomasu, heavily studying the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. After graduating from the Seijo Junior High School in 1950, Ozawa sprained his finger in a rugby game. Unable to continue studying the piano, his teacher at the Toho Gakuen School of Music , brought Ozawa to a life-changing performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, which ultimately shifted his musical focus from piano performance to conducting. Almost a decade after the sports injury, Ozawa won the first prize at the International Competition of Orchestra Conductors in Besançon, France.
