SkyWest, Inc. is the parent company of SkyWest Airlines, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, and ExpressJet Airlines. It is headquartered in St. George, Utah, United States. SkyWest, Inc. became the parent company of SkyWest Airlines to facilitate the transfer of the sale of Delta Air Lines, Inc. subsidiary, ASA to SkyWest, Inc. On Monday, August 15, 2005, Delta announced that it was selling Atlantic Southeast Airlines to the newly incorporated SkyWest, Inc. for $425 million in cash, and on Thursday, September 8, 2005, SkyWest, Inc. announced that the acquisition had been completed. SkyWest... Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, even though merged into one holding company maintain separate operations. SkyWest, Inc. in terms of revenue would be considered a major airline carrier as it has over $1 Billion annual revenue earnings. On August 4, 2010 the parent company, SkyWest Inc., announced that Atlantic Southeast Airlines would be attaining ExpressJet Airlines, and the two companies would be merged. The merger was completed on November 12, 2010. Between SkyWest and ASA, the airline operates the sixth-to-largest fleet in the world, consisting of 436 planes.
