Peter and Oliver Tufts House is a historic house at 78 Sycamore Street in Somerville, Massachusetts. The earliest part of the house was built around... 1714. The house "was originally built on Barberry Lane by Peter Tufts, grandson of the Peter Tufts who emigrated to America in 1646, and who operated a ferry from Charlestown to Malden. From 1775 to 1776, the house served as headquarters for General Charles Lee of the American Army during the siege of Boston. Some 50 years later Charlotte Cushman, the noted Boston actress, spent her childhood holidays at 'Uncle Oliver's Farm'" The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The West Somerville Branch Library is a historic library at 40 College Avenue in Somerville, Massachusetts, just outside of Davis Square. The library... was built in 1906, opened in May 1909, and was added to the National Historic Register in 1989. It was the first branch library in Somerville. The original funds for building the library were a gift of $25,000 from Andrew Carnegie, the steel baron and philanthropist. The Boston architectural firm of McLean and Wright designed the building in a neoclassical style derived from the Beaux-Arts architecture of the day. It is currently part of the Minuteman Library Network system.

Maureen Stapleton was an American actress in film, theater and television. Stapleton was born Lois Maureen Stapleton in Troy, New York, the daughter... of Irene and John P. Stapleton, and grew up in a strict Irish American Catholic family. Her father was an alcoholic and her parents separated during her childhood. Stapleton moved to New York City at the age of eighteen, and did modeling to pay the bills. She once said that it was her infatuation with the handsome Hollywood actor Joel McCrea which led her into acting. She made her Broadway debut in the production featuring Burgess Meredith of The Playboy of the Western World in 1946. That same year, she played the role of Iras in Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra" in a touring production by actress and producer Katharine Cornell. Stepping in because Anna Magnani refused the role due to her limited English, Stapleton won a Tony Award for her role in Tennessee Williams' The Rose Tattoo in 1951.

Alex Rocco is an American actor. His roles have ranged from comedy to playing gangsters in Mafia movies. Rocco was born Alexander Federico... Petricone, Jr. in Cambridge, Massachusetts but raised in Somerville, Massachusetts, the son of Mary and Alexander Sam Petricone. According to organized crime turncoat Vincent Teresa, Alex was a hanger-on with the Winter Hill Gang of the Boston area. An unwanted advance toward Rocco's then girlfriend on Labor Day, 1961 touched off the Boston Irish Gang War of the 1960s. Georgie McLaughlin who made the advance was beaten by Winter Hill Gang members. Rocco was taken into police custody in November 1961 for questioning following the death of Bernie McLaughlin of the McLaughlin gang, the first murder of the war. Rocco was released without charge, and shortly thereafter left the Boston area. He moved to California in 1962 and began using the name Alex Rocco. He first worked as a bartender in Santa Monica, California and took acting lessons from actor Leonard Nimoy, a fellow Boston native.

Robert George Pickett was an American singer who found fame under the name Bobby "Boris" Pickett. He was known for co-writing and performing the... 1962 hit novelty song, "Monster Mash". Pickett was born in Somerville, Massachusetts. His father was a theater manager, and as a nine-year-old he watched many horror films. He would later incorporate impressions of them in his Hollywood, California nightclub act in 1959. Pickett was a United States Army veteran, who served in Korea. Pickett co-wrote "Monster Mash" with Leonard Capizzi in May 1962. The song was a spoof on the dance crazes popular at the time, including the Twist and the Mashed Potato, which inspired the title. The song featured Pickett's impersonations of veteran horror stars Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi . It was passed on by every major record label, but after hearing the song, Gary S. Paxton agreed to produce and engineer it; among the musicians who played on it was pianist Leon Russell.

Adam Seth Gardner is a guitarist and vocalist of the band Guster and a member of the Tufts University Beelzebubs. Adam does a weekly radio show in... Portland, Maine where he discusses everything from music to environmental issues. He grew up in Morristown, New Jersey, and played for a band called Royal Flush while a student at the Pingry School, from which he graduated in 1991. He also attended Harding Township School in New Vernon, New Jersey. Gardner, working with Dave Schneider, recently created a side-project called The LeeVees. Its album, Hanukkah Rocks, consists of humorous original songs about the Jewish holiday. Adam and his wife Lauren started Reverb, an eco-friendly companion to summer rock tours. Gardner was interviewed about Reverb for the July 2006 issue of The Green Room.
