The Joseph D. Oliver House, also known as Copshaholm, sits on 808 W. Washington Street, at the corner of Chapin Street in South Bend, Indiana. The... mansion was built for the Oliver family, founders of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1895-96, Copshaholm is a 38-room Romanesque Queen Anne house designed by New York architect Charles Alonzo Rich. The furnishings on all three floors are original, giving visitors a glimpse of how the mansion appeared during the 72 years the Oliver family had occupancy. Oak, cherry and mahogany woodwork are found throughout Copshaholm. Leaded glass windows and 14 unique fireplaces add to the beauty of the house. The furnishings include porcelains, glass, silver, prints, and bronzes, including some by Bartolozzi and Lorado Taft. The furniture is all original and display beautiful antiques. Surrounding Copshaholm are 2.5 acres of landscaped gardens, including a garden tea house, formal Italianate garden, rose garden, pergola, tennis lawn, and fountain. The house is operated as a house museum by the Center for History.

The K. C. DeRhodes House is a classic 1906 Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie style home located at 715 West Washington Avenue in South Bend, Indiana. The... home has been carefully restored by its current owners over more than two decades and remains in private ownership. It is one of two Wright homes in South Bend, the other being the Herman T. Mossberg Residence. In 1906, newlyweds Laura Caskey Bowsher DeRhodes and Kersey C. DeRhodes built a two-story house in South Bend, Indiana, designed for them in the Oak Park studio of Frank Lloyd Wright. In plan, the DeRhodes house is a mirror image twin of the 1904 Barton House in Buffalo, New York. The main floor of the house is one large, rectangular space oriented south to north, that is subdivided by piers and low bookcases with light screens into three spaces, a reception area, a large living room with fireplace toward the south of the house and a large dining room with Wright's customary built in china cabinets toward the rear of the house. An entry/foyer to the east and the stairway and kitchen wing to the west extend the plan into a cruciform shape.

Michael Alig is the co-founding member of the Club Kids, a group of young clubgoers led by Alig and his long-time best friend James St. James in the... late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1996 Alig was convicted of the murder of Andre "Angel" Melendez in a confrontation over a drug debt. Alig moved to New York to attend college at Fordham University from which he later dropped out. He began working at Danceteria in 1983 as a bus boy. A natural at throwing parties with little or no resources he soon began to rise in New York's party scene. Alig was mentored by socialite James St. James and club owner Peter Gatien while rising in popularity and prominence in the national underground club scene. Alig was also influential in the early promotion of his then boyfriend DJ Keoki who studied under DJ Brian Telfair, top DJ at the time in Alig's and Gatien's clubs, most notably the New York club The Limelight, owned by Gatien and designed by Ari Bahat. In Sept 1995 the Limelight was closed by the police on suspicion of drug trafficking, but subsequently reopened several times during the 1990s. In September 2003, it reopened under the name "Avalon".

Ryan Joseph Newman is a driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He drives the #39 United States Army/Tornados/Haas Automation/Quicken Loans/Outback... Steakhouse Chevrolet Impala for Stewart Haas Racing under crew chief Tony Gibson. Newman graduated from Purdue University in 2001 with a B.S. in engineering. He and Danny Efland are the only drivers to have a college degree. In 2002, he was the Raybestos Rookie of the Year. He enjoys driving and working on vintage cars, particularly 1950s Chryslers. Newman's car was featured on the cover of the 2005 EA Sports computer game NASCAR SimRacing, and he was actively involved in its development. Brooklyn Sage Newman, first child of Ryan and wife Krissie, arrived on Thursday, November 18, 2010. Newman made his racing debut in 1993 in the United Midget Auto Racing Association and the All-American Midget Series, winning both Rookie of the Year and the championship. His 100 feature wins and two titles have him in the Quarter Midget Hall of Fame. Moving to USAC in 1995 running the C.E.

Peter E. "Sneaky Pete" Kleinow was an American country-rock musician, songwriter, and a motion picture special effects artist. He is best known as a... member of the band the Flying Burrito Brothers and as a session musician for such artists as Joan Baez, Jackson Browne, The Byrds, Joe Cocker, Rita Coolidge, The Eagles, The Everly Brothers, George Harrison, The Steve Miller Band, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Spencer Davis, Linda Ronstadt and many others. Kleinow was born in South Bend, Indiana. Before his musical career, he originally worked as a special effects artist and stop motion animator for movies and television, including the Gumby, Outer Limits, and Davey and Goliath series, as well as movies such as 7 Faces of Dr. Lao and The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm. At night, Kleinow would frequently sit in with Bakersfield Sound-oriented combos and early country-rock aggregations playing the pedal steel guitar.

John Bromfield was an American film and television actor. Bromfield was born in South Bend, Indiana. He played football and was a boxing champion... in college. He served in the United States Navy. In 1948, he twice harpooned a whale in the documentary film Harpoon. In 1948, he was cast as a detective in the film Sorry, Wrong Number, starring Burt Lancaster and Barbara Stanwyck for Columbia Pictures. In 1953, Bromfield appeared with Esther Williams in the film Easy to Love set in bathing suit attire in Cypress Gardens, Florida. In the middle 1950s, he appeared in westerns, such as NBC's Frontier anthology series in the role of a sheriff in the episode "The Hanging at Thunder Butte Creek". He also starred in horror films, including the 1955 3D production Revenge of the Creature, one of the Creature from the Black Lagoon sequels. In 1956, Bromfield was cast as law enforcement officer Frank Morgan in the syndicated western-themed crime drama series, Sheriff of Cochise, later retitled by studio boss Desi Arnaz, Sr., as U.S. Marshal.

Rick Florian is a musician, songwriter and producer, most known for being the lead singer of Contemporary Christian Music rock band Whiteheart since... 1986. He currently lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife, Lisa, one of his four sons and his daughter, and works as a real estate agent. Rick still lends his voice to several music projects over the year. Florian was born in South Bend, Indiana, in 1962. He graduated from Taylor University in 1984. Florian was a three-time lighting tech/roadie for the band back in the 80s. When Florian was caught off guard singing and dancing to Whiteheart's songs, he was asked to audition for the open position as the band's vocalist. He got the job and recorded eight studio albums with them. Throughout his tenure with the band, he was praised on several occasions for his clean voice and excellent performing abilities. He could always find a clever spot to show off his back handspring in each concert. Despite not being a founding member, he became the core of Whiteheart along with Billy Smiley and Mark Gersmehl .

Samuel Lloyd Haynes was an African-American actor and television writer. Haynes was a member of the Bahá'í Faith. Haynes served in the... Marines from 1952–1964 and during the Korean War. He was a public-affairs officer for the Naval reserve with the rank of Commander. Following his military career, Haynes studied acting at the Film Industries Workshop and Actors West in Los Angeles. Haynes appeared in a number of films and television series, such as Batman and the second Star Trek pilot episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Haynes was dropped from Star Trek because series Producer Gene Roddenberry preferred actress Nichelle Nichols over him. Haynes received the most recognition for his role as schoolteacher Pete Dixon in the ABC situation comedy series Room 222, with Michael Constantine and Karen Valentine. Haynes and Valentine were both nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for their roles. He died from lung cancer on January 1, 1987.

George Seaton was an American screenwriter, playwright, film director and producer, and theatre director. Born George Stenius in South Bend,... Indiana, Seaton moved to Detroit after graduating from college to work as an actor on radio station WXYZ. John L. Barrett played The Lone Ranger on test broadcasts of the series in early January 1933, but when the program became part of the regular schedule Seaton was cast in the title role. In later years he claimed to have devised the cry "Hi-yo, Silver" because he couldn't whistle for his horse as the script required. Seaton joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a contract writer in 1933. His first major screen credit was the Marx Brothers comedy A Day at the Races in 1937. In the early 1940s he joined 20th Century Fox, where he remained for the rest of the decade, writing scripts for Moon Over Miami, Coney Island, Charley's Aunt, The Song of Bernadette, and others before making his directorial debut with Diamond Horseshoe in 1945.

Vivica Anjanetta Fox is an American actress and television producer. She is best known for her roles in the films Independence Day, Set It Off, Soul... Food, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, Kill Bill and Juwanna Mann. Fox, who is of African American and Native American descent, was born in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Everlyena, a pharmaceutical technician, and William Fox, a private school administrator. She is a graduate of Arlington High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and Golden West College with an Associate Art degree in Social Sciences. Fox moved to California to attend Golden West College. While in California she started acting professionally, first on soap operas such as Generations, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless. She was cast as Emily Franklin in the pilot episode of ABC's Living Dolls, a spin-off of the sitcom Who's the Boss? but was replaced with Halle Berry for the remaining episodes. Another early role saw her as Patti LaBelle's fashion designer daughter, Charisse Chamberlain, on the NBC TV series Out All Night. She also appeared as Jazz's sister on the hit show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Craig John Counsell is an American former Major League Baseball infielder. He played for five different teams during his 15-year MLB career.... Counsell is best known for his playoff performances in 1997 with the Florida Marlins and in 2001 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has the distinction of having been on base for the last two times that the World Series ended with a walk-off hit, and was named the NLCS Most Valuable Player in 2001. Counsell was born in South Bend, Indiana. He grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, and attended Whitefish Bay High School, where he played baseball. His father worked for the Milwaukee Brewers. He attended college at the University of Notre Dame, where he played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team. The Colorado Rockies drafted Counsell in the 11th round of the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Rockies on September 17, 1995. After playing only a few games with the Rockies, Counsell was traded to the Florida Marlins for Mark Hutton in late July 1997. He immediately became the regular starter at second base and contributed significantly to the Marlins' World Series championship that year.

Jake Cinninger, born Jacob Alan Cinninger, December 16, 1975 in Niles, Michigan, is an American musician. He has risen to fame as one of two lead... guitarists, in the Chicago-based jam band Umphrey's McGee. Cinninger was raised in Niles, Michigan where he says his parents' extensive record collection influenced his eclectic tastes in music. Cinninger began playing in many different bands by the age of 12, ranging in styles from jazz fusion to country music. After spending some time in the Berklee School of Music, he took classical guitar lessons from Gerry Zubko in Roseland, South Bend, Indiana. In 1997, he started his own band, Ali Baba's Tahini and regularly played shows alongside of another local band, Umphrey's McGee. Cinninger chose to learn his chops by playing with others rather than attend a college musical curriculum, as many of his african-american friends did. Eventually, Ali Baba's Tahini disbanded in 2000 and Cinninger accepted an offer to join as a professional face-melter and a full-time member of Umphrey's McGee in 2000. Since joining the band, he has, along with founder Brendan Bayliss, become one of the group's main songwriters.
