East Lawrence Avenue in Springfield, Illinois, USA, for patron Susan Lawrence Dana, the town house reflects the mutual affection of the patron and the architect for organic architecture, the relatively flat landscape of the U.S. state of Illinois, and the Japanese aesthetic as expressed in Japanese prints. In 1902, Susan Lawrence Dana was an independent woman and heiress to a substantial fortune, including silver mines in the Rocky Mountains. Widowed in 1900, Dana enjoyed complete control over her household and fortune. Eager to express her personality and to become the leading hostess in Springfield, Dana decided to completely remodel her family's Italianate mansion located in the state capital's fashionable "Aristocracy Hill" neighborhood. Susan Lawrence Dana's search for an architect to match her aspirations ended when she was introduced to Frank Lloyd Wright, the rising leader of a new movement in architecture.

The Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site is a historic brick building built in 1841 in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is located at 6th... and Adams Streets in Springfield, Illinois. The law office has been restored and is operated by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency as a state historic site. The office building is a surviving portion of what was the Tinsley Block, a brick structure built by local developer Seth M. Tinsley in 1840–1841 to provide office space for professionals working in the newly chosen state capital city. The Illinois General Assembly had moved the capital from Vandalia, Illinois to Springfield in late 1839, and local workers had begun to build a new limestone state house, now the Old State Capitol State Historic Site, on the parcel of land just north of the Tinsley Block. Lawyer Abraham Lincoln and his partner Stephen T. Logan moved their partnership law offices to a third-floor office in the Tinsley Block in 1843. The Illinois Supreme Court, where the partners often pled cases, met in the State Capitol across the street, and the U.S. District Court rented space on the Tinsley Block's second floor. The firm of Logan & Lincoln broke up in 1844.

Vachel Lindsay House was the birthplace and home of poet Vachel Lindsay. The Greek Revival house was constructed in 1879 and is located in... Springfield, Illinois. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971. The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency operates the house as a historic house museum and offers tours of the home that emphasize Vachel Lindsay's poetry and art. The first floor contains an entry hall, two parlors, library, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and pantry. The second floor includes a central hall, sewing room, five bedrooms, bathroom, and trunk room.

Hiram Sherman was an American actor. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Sherman made his Broadway debut as a playwright with the short-lived comedy Too... Much Party in 1934. It proved to be his sole attempt at writing. Two years later he made his first appearance as an actor in Horse Eats Hat. Additional theatre credits include Julius Caesar, Very Warm for May, Cyrano de Bergerac, Boyd's Daughter , Mary, Mary, Two's Company, and How Now, Dow Jones, winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for the latter two. Sherman's many television credits include such early anthology series as Kraft Television Theatre, Studio One, The Alcoa Hour, and Hallmark Hall of Fame and a regular role on Tammy Grimes' eponymous comedy series. His feature films included The Solid Gold Cadillac and Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feeling So Sad. Sherman died of a stroke in Springfield, Illinois.

He played fifteen seasons for the Buffalo Bills,... the San Diego Chargers, the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Lions and the New York Jets. John Kidd was the highest selected punter in Bills history. The Bills chose him in the fifth round of the 1984 NFL Draft from Northwestern University. He was the starting quarterback and punter at Findlay High School, from which he graduated in 1980. John Kidd was a first team all American in college and won the Big Ten Medal of Honor. He set several NFL records and is the current career average leader for the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets. As of 2008, Kidd was running his own telecommunication company and, at one point, engaged to Los Angeles weatherforecaster and television personality, Jackie Johnson. John Hartung was sitting with Jackie Johnson at an LA Laker Game on January 8, 2012 and Hartung said, "Jackie is married to an ex-football player.

Although obtaining many minor roles, her career never lifted her to major stardom, but she did star in roughly twenty-four B-movies during her short career, most of which were B-Westerns. In 1935 she signed a contract with Paramount, which was not renewed after the initial six months. She then began working for Warner Bros., and was from time to time "loaned out" for use in westerns. In 1937 she was cast in the leading role, starring alongside Tex Ritter, in the western Riders of the Rockies, directed by Robert N. Bradbury. Also in 1937, she began working for Columbia Pictures, where she made two films starring alongside Charley Chase and Andy Clyde. Her first husband was actor, writer and director Dennis O'Keefe, whose career spanned more than thirty five years before he died at age 60. Their marriage was short lived, ending in divorce. In 1939 she starred in The Oregon Trail, starring alongside Johnny Mack Brown.

Morris E. Day is an American musician, composer and actor. He is best known as the lead singer of The Time. In high school, Day was in a band with... Prince and André Cymone and the trio formed an early band managed by Day's mother called "Grand Central," later renamed "Champagne." Later, Prince embarked on a solo career but retained Cymone for his backing band. The two began to plan a side-group that would focus more on R&B, while Prince would continue to explore various musical styles. The Time was composed of 4 members from an earlier funk group called "Flyte Tyme," but the lead singer had not been chosen. Charles Cobb was considered but he turned it down. Sue Ann Carwell was auditioned; and Alexander O'Neal nearly became The Time's lead singer, but dropped out due to payment negotiations. Day, who was now in a band called "Enterprise", allowed Prince to have a song called "Partyup" for his Dirty Mind album, and Prince would soon return the favor by giving Day the job of lead singer. Day would suggest guitarist Jesse Johnson, who completed the band's ensemble.

June Christy , born Shirley Luster, was an American singer, known for her work in the cool jazz genre and for her silky smooth vocals. Her success as... a singer began with The Stan Kenton Orchestra. She pursued a solo career from 1954 and is best known for her debut album Something Cool. After her death, she was hailed as "one of the finest and most neglected singers of her time." Shirley Luster was born in Springfield, Illinois and moved with her family to Decatur, Illinois when she was three years old. She began to sing with the Decatur-based Bill Oetzel Orchestra at thirteen. While attending Decatur High School she appeared with Oetzel and his society band, the Ben Bradley Band, and Bill Madden's Band. After high school she moved to Chicago, changed her name to Sharon Leslie, and sang with a group led by Boyd Raeburn. Later she joined Benny Strong's band. In 1944, Strong's band moved to New York at the same time Christy was quarantined in Chicago with scarlet fever. In 1945, after hearing that Anita O'Day had left Stan Kenton's Orchestra, she auditioned and was chosen for the role as a vocalist.

Brendon Small is an American sitcom writer/producer, actor, comedian, voice actor, composer, and musician. He is best known as the creator of the... animated series Home Movies and Metalocalypse and as the creator of the virtual death metal band Dethklok. Small started learning guitar at age 14 after a kid in his neighborhood began teaching him about guitar and music. At his first public performance his hands shook so wildly that he had trouble controlling the guitar. It was another ten years before he was comfortable performing in public. He graduated from Palma High School in Salinas, California. He graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1997. During his music studies he concurrently took several writing and comedy classes at Emerson College. After graduating, he felt that the rock music genre was fading in popularity so decided to try his hand at comedy. He was performing at The Comedy Studio in Harvard Square when he was spotted by Loren Bouchard, who at the time was casting for the central character for a UPN pilot produced by Tom Snyder Productions which eventually evolved into Home Movies.

Theodore Lorch was an American film actor. He appeared in 146 films between 1908 and 1947. Lorch is notable for his commanding performances in... several Three Stooges comedies. He was the suspicious Major "Bloodhound" Filbert in Uncivil Warriors, the snooty psychologist Professor Sedlitz in Half-Wits Holiday, and General Muster in Goofs and Saddles. He also excelled in performing tiny bit roles, such as the butler in If a Body Meets a Body and Micro-Phonies. Lorch died on November 12, 1947. His final Stooge film, The Hot Scots, was released posthumously in 1948. His interment was located in Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
