Game Overview

Spyro: A Hero's Tail is the fifth console game in Spyro series, and the ninth game in the series in all. Developed by Eurocom, it was the first game in the series for the Xbox, as well...

The Good

Good graphics, Good music, Good voice acting.

The Bad

Silly plot, Minigames are distracting and boring, Spyro gameplay dated, Map system terrible, Collectible collecting is collectively bad.

The Bottom Line

Spyro must save the Dragon Realms from an Evil Red Dragon who has planted the light-sapping Dark Gems all over the kingdom in an attempt to control the world. And so begins Eurocom's first attempt at the classic Spyro character in Spyro: A Hero's Tail. In it, players must guide their fiery purple dragon across dark and mysterious lands with change and morph from evil to good throughout the course of the adventure. These changes affect everything too, from enemies and environments to the music, lighting, and objects of each given level. Bonus playable characters such as Hunter the Cheetah and Sgt. Byrd the Penguin join the fracas as well, in addition to a host of other alter egos, brand new power-ups, and more.

Spyro's newly expanded roster doesn't manage to save A Hero's Tail from monotony, and even the title's targeted younger demographic will probably soon tire of the game's reliance on boring collectible gathering.

Don't bring high expectations into this game and you will be pleasantly surprised.

A definite improvement over "Enter the Dragonfly." It's a solid, albeit simple and slightly unimaginative platformer.
