Agudath Sholem Synagogue is a historic Jewish synagogue at 29 Grove Street in Stamford, Connecticut. The original synagogue building was later... converted into a Christian church building, the Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. The building was built from 1933 to 1941. The building was sold by the congregation in 1960. It's one of multiple synagogues considered in a study of NRHP eligibility. It's near the St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church and the Suburban Club, which are both also NRHP-listed.

The Hoyt-Barnum House at 713 Bedford St. Stamford, Connecticut, was built around 1699. The builder was a descendant of one of the original founders... of Stamford. The large chimney stack of the Hoyt-Barnum House is made of field stone, laid up with clay, animal hair, and straw. The house is braced timber frame construction or post and beam. The foundation is of field stone. The west room of the house is plastered. The east room is whitewashed and the hearth room walls are sheathed with wood paneling, thus showing the various finishing techniques incorporated into the house during its evolution. The house is now owned and maintained as a museum by the Stamford Historical Society. Open by appointment for tours, the house features 17th and 18th century furnishings. It's a simple 17th century farmhouse, the only one surviving in the area.

Saint Benedict - Our Lady of Montserrat, or simply St. Benedict's Church, is a Catholic church in Stamford, Connecticut, in the Diocese of... Bridgeport. The historic Neo-Tudor church at 1A St. Benedict's Circle was built in 1930 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The architect was Henry F. Ludorf of Hartford, Connecticut. It was covered in a Multiple Property Submission study of Downtown Stamford Ecclesiastical Complexes. It is an asymmetrically designed church that contributes interestingly to the streetscape, according to its NRHP nominator, Alan Burnham, an architect.

Harry Harrison is an American science fiction author best known for his character the Stainless Steel Rat and the novel Make Room! Make Room! , the... basis for the film Soylent Green . He is also co-president of the Birmingham Science Fiction Group. Before becoming an editor, Harrison started in the science fiction field as an illustrator, notably with EC Comics' two science fiction comic books, Weird Fantasy and Weird Science. He has used house names such as Wade Kaempfert and Philip St. John to edit magazines, and has published other fictions under the names Felix Boyd, Leslie Charteris, and Hank Dempsey . Harrison also wrote for syndicated comic strips, creating the Rick Random character. Harrison is now much better known for his writing, particularly his humorous and satirical science fiction, such as the Stainless Steel Rat series and the novel Bill, the Galactic Hero . During the 1950s and 1960s, he was the main writer of the Flash Gordon newspaper strip. One of his Flash Gordon scripts was serialized in Comics Revue magazine.

Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values, and Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He rose to prominence in the 1980s as Jim Ignatowski in the television series Taxi. Lloyd has used his vocal talents in animation, frequently voicing villains. He provided voice to the character Hacker on the animated PBS series Cyberchase. Lloyd has won three Primetime Emmy Awards and an Independent Spirit Award, and has been nominated for two Saturn Awards and a Daytime Emmy Award. Lloyd was born in Stamford, Connecticut, the son of Samuel R. Lloyd, a lawyer, and his wife Ruth , a singer and sister of San Francisco mayor Roger Lapham. His maternal grandfather, Lewis Lapham, was one of the founders of the Texaco oil company, and Lloyd is also a descendant of Mayflower passenger John Howland. Lloyd attended the Fessenden School, a preparatory school in Newton, Massachusetts. Lloyd was raised in New Canaan, Connecticut and Westport, Connecticut, where he graduated from Staples High School in 1958.

He hosted 1,429 episodes of the television show Firing Line from 1966 until 1999, where his public persona was famous for a sesquipedalian vocabulary. He also wrote a nationally syndicated newspaper column, and wrote numerous spy novels. George H. Nash, a historian of the modern American conservative movement, states that Buckley was "arguably the most important public intellectual in the United States in the past half century For an entire generation, he was the preeminent voice of American conservatism and its first great ecumenical figure." Buckley's primary contribution to politics was a fusion of traditional American political conservatism with laissez-faire economic theory and anti-communism, laying groundwork for the new American conservatism of U.S. presidential candidates Barry Goldwater and President Ronald Reagan.

Michael Dante is an American award winning actor of television, films and stage and a former professional minor league baseball player. As a boy... growing up on the West Side neighborhood of the city, he used to sneak into a local movie theater with his friends and watch westerns. "I grew up wanting to be the sidekick of the Lone Ranger and wanting to follow my heroes," he told a reporter in 2006. He was a shortstop on the Stamford High School baseball team, then played for "The Advocate All-Stars" team which won a 1949 New England baseball championship. He signed a bonus contract with the Boston Braves out of high school. His $6,000 bonus went to buy his family a four-door Buick with whitewalls. During spring training with the Senators he had taken drama classes at the University of Miami in Florida. Bandleader Tommy Dorsey arranged a screen test at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer soon after. His first movie was Somebody Up There Likes Me in 1956. He changed his name at the urging of Jack Warner, who thought "Vitti" wouldn't look good on movie marquees. Warner suggested some first names, from which the actor picked "Michael.

Christopher Taylor Buckley is an American political satirist and the author of novels including God Is My Broker, Thank You for Smoking, Little... Green Men, The White House Mess, No Way to Treat a First Lady, Wet work, Florence of Arabia, Boomsday, Supreme Courtship, and, most recently, Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir. He is the son of William F. Buckley Jr. and Patricia Buckley and inherited Canadian citizenship through his mother. After a classical education at the Portsmouth Abbey School, Buckley graduated from Jonathan Edwards College, Yale University in 1975 as a member of Skull and Bones like his father. He became managing editor of Esquire Magazine. In 1981, he moved to Washington, D.C., to work as chief speechwriter for Vice President George H. W. Bush. This experience led to his novel The White House Mess, a satire on White House office politics and political memoirs. Thank You for Smoking is another satire, its protagonist a lobbyist for the tobacco industry, Nick Naylor.

David James Abbruzzese is an American musician who was the drummer for the American rock band Pearl Jam from 1991 to 1994. He replaced drummer Matt... Chamberlain in 1991, shortly before the release of the band's debut album, Ten. Abbruzzese played on the band's next two records, Vs. and Vitalogy. Dave Abbruzzese was born in Stamford, Connecticut, but grew up in Mesquite, Texas, where he attended Vanston Jr. High. Abbruzzese grew up drumming on his dad's tackle boxes. While living at home the only thing in his bedroom was his drum set. Abbruzzese dropped out of North Mesquite High School at an early age and began to focus on playing more than ever. He started playing in the Texas music scene, performing in such bands as Segueway, Flaming Hemorrhoids, and Course of Empire, and along the way, he formed a band called Dr. Tongue, a three-piece, funk-influenced band that gigged in the Dallas and Denton area. In 1991, Abbruzzese got a call from drummer and friend Matt Chamberlain, whom Abbruzzese knew through the Texas music scene, in regard to filling in for him in the band Pearl Jam when he left.

Von Oÿ made her television acting debut in 1986 on an episode of ABC Weekend Special, followed by a guest roles on Tales from the Darkside and Kate & Allie. From 1990 to 1991, she co-starred in the short-lived CBS sitcom Lenny. From 1991 to 1995, von Oÿ appeared in the role of the fast talking Six LeMeure on the series Blossom. After the series ended, she attended film school at the University of Southern California for two years before dropping out to return to acting. In 1999, she won the role of Stevie van Lowe, Kim Parker's sidekick on The Parkers. During the run of The Parkers, von Oÿ also provided the voice of Trinket St. Blaire in animated series Pepper Ann.

Loeb was a producer/writer on the TV... series Smallville and Lost, writer for the films Commando and Teen Wolf and was a writer and Co-Executive Producer on the NBC TV show Heroes from its premiere in 2006 to November 2008. In 2010, Loeb became Head of Television for Marvel in charge of drama, comedy and animation. Jeph Loeb was grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. He reportedly read his first comic book during the summer of 1970. His later stepfather was a vice-president at Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, where Jeph met one of his mentors and greatest influences in comic book writing, the writer Elliot Maggin. Jeph however attended Columbia University.

Henson was born with a white streak of hair on the right side of his head. As a result he received the nickname Skunk Boy while hosting Talk Soup. Henson attended St.Luke's School, New Canaan, Connecticut. Henson began his career as a stand-up comic. He started appearing in films in the mid to late 1990s. Henson was the longest-running host of Talk Soup on the E! Entertainment Network.
