James Eugene "Jim" Raynor is a fictional character and a major protagonist in Blizzard Entertainment's science fiction StarCraft series. Raynor is a... predominant character in the science fiction real-time strategy video games StarCraft and Brood War, and is the player character in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Outside video games, Raynor appears in the novels Liberty's Crusade and Queen of Blades, while his backstory is explored in the novels Heaven's Devils and Devil's Due. Robert Clotworthy voices the character in all video game appearances. Created by Chris Metzen and James Phinney, Raynor is loosely based on a character of the same name in the 1991 film Rush. Metzen conceived Raynor to represent the ordinary man in a series populated with politically motivated characters. Raynor's physical appearance was designed by Metzen himself. A Terran in his early thirties, Raynor is a former soldier and outlaw who eventually becomes a marshal on a backwater colony world. Raynor joins Arcturus Mengsk's revolution against the oppressive Confederacy of Man but becomes disillusioned with Mengsk's genocidal tactics, forming his own paramilitary group to challenge Mengsk's tyranny.

Tassadar is a character in the fictional StarCraft universe. He was a Protoss High Templar and piloted the Gantrithor, a Protoss Carrier. In... StarCraft Tassadar is voiced by Michael Gough. In Starcraft Map Editor, he appears as the hero version of the Protoss High Templar, greatly differing from the original by having the ability to attack . Tassadar, aged 356, bore the title of Executor, a senior Templar rank, until he was ostracised by the Judicator Caste for disobeying the orders of Aldaris, a member of the Protoss Conclave and a religious and military leader of the Protoss people. Unlike Aldaris, Tassadar believed in the need to respect the lives of the Terrans on Chau Sara in their quest to eradicate the Zerg. Tassadar's Expeditionary Force made first contact between the Protoss and the Zerg when he discovered organic space probes floating in deep space. He had them brought to Auir for study, and eventually subjected them to an analysis with Khaydarin Crystal.

Christopher Vincent Metzen is an American game designer, artist, voice actor and author known for his work creating the fictional universes and scripts for Blizzard Entertainment's three major award-winning media franchises: Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft. On occasion, Metzen has published his art under the alias "Thundergod". Metzen was hired by Blizzard Entertainment as an animator and an artist; his first work for the company was with the... video game Justice League Task Force. Metzen is currently the vice president of creative development at Blizzard Entertainment and has assisted the company's projects by providing voice talent for a number of characters, as well as contributing to artistic character design. Outside of Blizzard Entertainment, Metzen authored a graphic novel series based on a futuristic second American civil war. Metzen began his career working with art and animation. He applied to Blizzard Entertainment, then known as Silicon & Synapse, on the recommendation of a friend who had seen his work.

Sierra Entertainment Inc. was an American video-game developer and publisher founded in 1979 as On-Line Systems by Ken and Roberta Williams. Based in Fresno, California, the company was last owned by Activision, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard. Sierra Entertainment was founded in 1979 as On-Line Systems in Simi Valley, California, by Ken and Roberta Williams. Ken Williams, a programmer for IBM, bought an Apple II microcomputer with which he planned to use to develop a FORTRAN compiler for the Apple II. At the time, his wife Roberta Williams was playing text adventure games on the Apple II. Dissatisfied with the text-only format, she realized that the graphics display capability of the Apple II could enhance the adventure gaming experience.

As of October 18, 2010, Nintendo has sold over 565 million hardware units and 3.4 billion software units. Nintendo was founded as a card company in late 1889, originally named Nintendo Koppai. Based in Kyoto, Japan, the business produced and marketed a playing card game called Hanafuda. The handmade cards soon became popular, and Yamauchi hired assistants to mass produce cards to satisfy demand.
