Game Overview

Upon firing up the Anniversary Collection, you're given a choice between the two games. First is Hyper Street Fighter II, a new collection of the Street Fighter II characters that shouldn't be confused with Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, which was the third arcade game to bear the Street Fighter II name. The Street Fighter II games changed quite a bit over the years. Characters were balanced and rebalanced from version to version.

The Bottom Line

To commemorate the 15th birthday of its world renowned street brawler series, Capcom presents Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. Comprised of two distinctly different chapters in the SF videogame universe, Anniversary Collection includes Hyper Street Fighter II (a blend of all five Street Fighter II titles with multiple character variations) and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Offering five different soundtracks, multiple voice tracks, and various different modes of play, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection also contains the full U.S. DVD version of the 1994 film, Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie in addition to adjustable gameplay rules.

The good news is that these fighting games--true to their classic roots--have aged gracefully. And, finally, you can play them online.

With so many hardcore dedicated Street Fighter fans out there, you will be in for the shock of your life when you decide to try your skills online.

It's pretty damn fun to play Street Fighter online, to be honest. With the dearth of the arcades these days, online has taken its place to a certain extent, and this version one-ups the PS2 version with a solid Xbox Live component.
