Yoshi , is a fictional dinosaur who appears in video games published by Nintendo. His debut was in Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo... Entertainment System as Mario and Luigi's sidekick , and he later established his own series with several platform and puzzle games, including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. He has also appeared in many of the spin-off Mario games including the Mario Party, the Mario Kart, and the Super Smash Bros. series, as well as in other various Mario sports titles. Yoshi also appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii as the characters' companion and steed, similar to his original debut role in Super Mario World. As with the names of several other characters in the Mario series, Yoshi is a common part of Japanese names . Yoshis come in many different colors, though the original and most common color is green. Yoshi's most recent appearance is in Mario Tennis Open.

Wario is a fictional character in Nintendo's Super Mario series, as well as the main character in his own offshoot Wario series and Mario's rival,... of video games. The character was designed as an evil doppelgänger to Mario, making his debut in the 1992 Game Boy title Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins as the main antagonist and final boss. He was designed by Hiroji Kiyotake, and is voiced by Charles Martinet, who also voices Mario and a number of other important characters in the series, and is responsible for giving Wario his trademark cackle. Since his early years, Wario has evolved into more of an antihero than a villain, and has been given starring roles in his own games, spawning the successful Wario Land and WarioWare series. He has even been known to ally himself with Mario in games such as Super Mario 64 DS and Yoshi's Island DS, and has become a staple of the character rosters in the series' spin-off games, in which he is often paired with Luigi's own doppelgänger, Waluigi. A rival to Mario first appeared in the 1985 game Wrecking Crew, in the form of Spike, a construction foreman.

Sonic the Hedgehog , trademarked Sonic The Hedgehog, is a title character and the protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series released by Sega, as... well as in numerous spin-off comics, cartoons, and a feature film. The first game was released on June 23, 1991, to provide Sega with a mascot to rival Nintendo's flagship character Mario . Since then, Sonic has become one of the world's best-known video game characters, with his series having sold more than 80 million copies. In 2005, Sonic was one of the first game character inductees into the Walk of Game, alongside Mario and Link. While many individuals at Sega had a hand in Sonic's creation, programmer Yuji Naka and artist Naoto Ōshima are generally credited with the creation of the character, a blue 15-year-old anthropomorphic hedgehog, who has the ability to run at supersonic speeds and the ability to curl into a ball, primarily to attack enemies. This is a major part of the gameplay of the series.

Solid Snake , real name David , is a fictional character and the main protagonist of Konami's Metal Gear series. Created by Hideo Kojima, Snake is... introduced in the first game of the series, Metal Gear from 1987. Snake has appeared in the majority of subsequent games and spin-offs. Japanese voice actor Akio Ōtsuka voices Snake in Japanese, while actor and screenwriter David Hayter provides the English voice of the character. Introduced in Metal Gear, Solid Snake is a combination of spy, special operations soldier, and mercenary commando of FOXHOUND – a black operations and espionage unit. He is tasked with disarming and destroying the latest incarnation of Metal Gear, a bipedal nuclear weapon-armed mecha. Controlled by the player, Solid Snake must act alone, supported via radio by commanding officers and specialists. While during his first two appearances Snake's designs were references to Hollywood films, by Metal Gear Solid he was given a consistent design by artist Yoji Shinkawa alongside an established personality.

Shigeru Miyamoto is a Japanese video game designer and producer. Miyamoto was born and raised in Kyoto Prefecture; the natural surroundings of Kyoto inspired much of Miyamoto's later work. He is mainly known for his work at the video game production company Nintendo, where he created some of the most successful video game franchises of all time, including Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, F-Zero, Pikmin, and the Wii series. He... currently manages the Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development branch, which handles many of Nintendo's top-selling titles. Miyamoto's games have been seen on every Nintendo video game console, with his earliest work appearing on arcade machines. His games have received critical praise from many reviewers, and he has been the recipient of various awards. He has a wife, Yasuko, and two children. Miyamoto was born in the Japanese town of Sonobe, Kyoto on November 16, 1952. Miyamoto's later work was greatly influenced by his childhood experiences in the town. From an early age, he began to explore the forest around his home.

Kazushige Nojima is a Japanese game scenario writer and is the founder of Stellavista Ltd.. He is best known for writing parts of Square Enix's Final Fantasy video game series—namely Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2—and the Kingdom Hearts series. Nojima also wrote the original lyrics of Liberi Fatali for Final Fantasy VIII and both Suteki da Ne and the Hymn of the Fayth for Final Fantasy X.... He was also the scenario writer for much of the Glory of Heracles series and for the adventure mode of the Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nojima worked for Square Enix until October 2003 and was credited on the following video games during his time as a Square-Enix employee: Since working as a freelancer, he has been credited on the following projects: Nojima also worked on developing the mythology behind the entire Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy series, which serves as the foundation for all stories within the series.
