Fu Jen Catholic University is a co-educational Catholic university located in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City. Colloquially the school is known... as "FǔDà" . Fu Jen is the top-ranked private university in the Republic of China . Fu Jen operated in Mainland China until 1952 when the Chinese Communist Party pushed the ROC military forces onto the island of Taiwan. It was known as The Catholic University of Peking before its re-establishment on Taiwan in 1961. It thus ranks as the oldest pontifical university in Sinophone states. The school has earned particular distinction for its Media & Mass Communication, Theology, Philosophy, Clinical Medicine, Management, Law and Linguistics and Arts programs. The College of Management was the first one of AACSB accredited in Cross-Taiwan-Strait states. According to Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings, Fu Jen ranks as the 501+ university worldwide, and 113th in Asia .

Takeshi Kaneshiro , born October 11, 1973, is a Taiwan-born Japanese actor and singer. Kaneshiro is a common Okinawan family name. In kanji,... 金城 is Kaneshiro and 武 is Takeshi , with Japanese readings. He appears as 金城 武 in Japanese media. Although Kaneshiro is not a Chinese surname, the first kanji of Kaneshiro coincides with the Chinese surname Jin 金 and with the Korean surname "Kim" 김. Since personal names are commonly written in Chinese characters in both Chinese and Japanese naming conventions, with surnames before given names, this gives Kaneshiro the freedom whether to distinguish himself as a Japanese or not when working in Chinese-speaking countries by preserving or removing the space between his surname and given name. Kaneshiro's mother is from Taiwan and his father from Okinawa, Japan. He was born and raised in Taipei and holds Japanese citizenship. He has two elder brothers, one is his senior by seven years, the other just by one.

Ma Chih-hung is an aboriginal Taiwanese luger who has competed since 2003. The youngest competitor in men's luge at the 2006 Winter Olympics at... Turin at the age of 20, he finished 28th in the men's singles event and qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics at Vancouver where he finished 34th. He is also noted for being the only competitor to represent Taiwan in these two Winter events.
