Comet in Moominland is an anime film by Telecable Benelux B.V.. The film is based on the novel Comet in Moominland by Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish. It is the first full-length Moomin-film. It was first released in Japan in 1992 as triple-feature with 2 shorter films, then it was released on video with 10 minutes of extra footage. It has never released for English, but has ben dubbed to several European languages. It was the seventh most watched film in Finland in the season 1992/1993 with 166.738 viewers. The film takes place before the events... of the TV series, just after the moomin family had moved into Moominvalley. Before the film, Moomin and his parents Moominpappa and Moominmamma had moved to Moominvalley and built their house. Moomin, Little My and Sniff went to the beach to find shells for Moomimamma who wanted them to adorn her flowerbeds. During the trip Sniff found a cave. On the same evening it was raining, Moominmamma gave Moomintroll a pearl to could give to anyone he cared for. Moomin knew she thought of a girl, and didn't believe it would happen.
