MJJ Music was an American record label, owned by Sony Music Entertainment recording company, founded by American pop singer Michael Jackson. MJJ Music was founded in 1994. Jackson formed the label to help shape the talents of burgeoning artists. Among the string of artists that signed with Jackson... on the label include Brownstone, 3T, Tatyana Ali and Men of Vizion. The label’s most significant successes in America was that of Brownstone, whose 1994 single, “If You Love Me”, hit the top ten of the pop charts,also the group was certified Platinum with the 1995 debut album From the Bottom Up. In addition, Tatyana Ali, who had a top ten hit in 1999 with the single, “Daydream”. Another significant success for the label was 3T, whose first album, Brotherhood, went gold in America and platinum overseas. Also during the 1990s,the label's musical base had been expanded to include kid rap duos. This duo was Quo, which was a short-lived rap group composed of Wade Robson and DeWayne Turrentine that was signed to Michael Jackson's Epic Records sub-label, MJJ Music during the time of kid rap duos.

Sony Music Entertainment is the second-largest global recorded music company of the "big four" record companies and is controlled by Sony Corporation of America, the United States subsidiary of Japan's Sony Corporation. The company, which evolved into Sony Music, was founded in 1929 as the... American Record Corporation through the merger of several smaller record companies. In the depths of the Great Depression, the Columbia Phonograph Company in the U.S. was acquired by ARC in 1934. ARC was acquired in 1938 by the Columbia Broadcasting System . The Columbia Phonograph Company had international subsidiaries and affiliates such as the Columbia Graphophone Company in the United Kingdom, but they were sold off prior to CBS acquiring American Columbia. RCA Victor Records executive Ted Wallerstein convinced CBS head William S. Paley to buy ARC and Paley made Wallerstein head of the newly acquired record company. CBS made Columbia its flagship label with Okeh its subsidiary label while deemphasizing ARC's other labels.

Work Records was a record label run by Sony Music that was the replacement for Sony's Chaos Recordings. The label released works by new artists and rising stars initially through Columbia Records, and then subsequently through Epic Records. It folded in 2000, and Epic Records absorbed all of its artists.
