Mays Business School is the business school at Texas A&M University. The school educates over 4,500 students in undergraduate and postgraduate... programs and consistently ranks among the top public business schools in the nation. Mays Business School was one of the first five schools in the United States to offer a trading center, the Reliant Energy Securities & Commodities Trading Center, which provides students with hands-on training to the tools used by commodities and currency traders. Students also use the center to manage the Tanner Fund, a $250,000 portfolio created using donated funds. Additionally, the School houses the nation's largest publicly funded real estate research organization, the Real Estate Center, and the Center for Retailing Studies, which was the first retailing center partnered with a business school. Business education was first offered at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College in conjunction with mechanical and agricultural programs. From 1876 through 1920 students at Texas A&M could select from a small number of business courses including single and double-entry bookkeeping and creamery management.

Fuller W. Bazer is an American animal scientist and a Regents Fellow, Distinguished Professor, and O.D. Butler Chair in Animal Science at Texas... A&M University. Fuller W. Bazer was born in 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA, in 1956 and was inducted into the Byrd Alumni Hall of Fame in 2002. He received his BS in Biology from Centenary College in Shreveport, LA; and his Masters at LSU. He completed his Ph.D. in animal science from North Carolina State University. He was a graduate research professor in animal science and pediatrics at the University of Florida before moving to Texas A&M University in 1992. Fuller W. Bazer is known for his contributions in the biological mystery of embryo-maternal signaling, that maintain pregnancy and survival of the embryo in livestock species. It was known that chemical communication between embryo and mother was essential for successful pregnancy in mammals. However, little was known about the details before R. Michael Roberts and Fuller W. Bazer collaborated.

James E. Womack is an American biologist and a professor at Texas A&M University. James E. Womack was born in 1941 in the United States. He... graduated with a BS in Mathematics Ed from Abilene Christian University in 1964. After completing his BS, he went to Oregon State University and completed his PhD in Genetics in 1968. After completing his PhD, he became an assistant professor of Biology at Abilene Christian University. He was an assistant professor of Biology from 1968 to 1971 and an associate professor of Biology from 1971 to 1973 at Abilene Christian University. Since 1973, he has been a professor at Texas A&M University. James E. Womack is known for conducting pioneering research in the cattle genome. He was responsible for the development of a whole genome cattle-hamster radiation hybrid panel. This work fueled a new thrust in cattle genomics and comparative gene mapping. RH mapping is an effective tool for building ordered maps of conserved sequences, derived from genes, thus integrating linkage and physical maps of mammalian chromosomes. He has taken special interest in assisting the careers of young scientists, particularly those in developing countries.

George Fletcher Bass is recognized as one of the early practitioners of underwater archaeology, along with Peter Throckmorton, Honor Frost, and... others. Bass was the director of the first archaeological expedition to entirely excavate an ancient shipwreck: Cape Gelidonya . Since directing his first excavation, he has excavated shipwrecks of the Bronze Age, Classical Age, and the Byzantine. Bass is professor emeritus at Texas A&M University, where he held the George T. and Gladys H. Abell Chair in Nautical Archaeology. He holds an M.A. in Near Eastern Archaeology from The Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1973 Bass founded the Institute of Nautical Archaeology . INA has conducted some of the most important excavations of the twentieth century, and its findings throw new light into areas as diverse as the beginning of the free enterprise system, the dating of Homer's Odyssey, chronologies of Egyptian dynasties and Helladic cultures, and the histories of technology, economics, music, art and religion.

Frank Albert Cotton was the W.T. Doherty-Welch Foundation Chair and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Texas A&M University. He authored... over 1700 scientific articles. Cotton was recognized for his research on the chemistry of the transition metals. Frank Albert Cotton was born on April 9, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended local public schools before Drexel University and then Temple University. After earning his BA degree from Temple in 1951, Cotton pursued a Ph.D. thesis under the guidance of Sir Geoffrey Wilkinson at Harvard where he worked on metallocenes. He received his Ph.D in 1955. Following his graduation from Harvard, Cotton began teaching at MIT. In 1961, at thirty-one years of age, he became the youngest person to have received a full professorship at MIT. His work emphasized both electronic structure and chemical synthesis. He pioneered the study of multiple bonding between transition metal atoms, starting with research on rhenium halides, and in 1964 identified the quadruple bond in the Re2Cl2− 8 ion. His work soon focused on other metal-metal bonded species, elucidating the structure of chromium acetate.
