The Art Institute of Vancouver is one of The Art Institutes, a system of over 45 educational institutions located throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, event management, fashion and culinary arts. The Art Institutes system is a subsidiary of Education Management Corporation, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Art Institute of Vancouver has two campuses in Vancouver: The main campus is located at Renfrew Vancouver, and The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Vancouver. The original main location of The Art Institute of... Vancouver used to be in Burnaby, which was founded in 1979 and originally called the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound. The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Vancouver was founded in 1982 and originally called Dubrulle International Culinary & Hotel Institute of Canada. Since 2010 all the programs have now moved to its present location at the new Renfrew Campus. The culinary school still remains downtown Vancouver. The Art Institute of Vancouver is registered with and accredited by the Private Post secondary Education Commission of British Columbia.
