The Joey Bishop Show is an American sitcom that aired on NBC for its first three seasons, premiering on September 20, 1961. The series then moved to CBS for its last season. It was a spin-off from a 1961 episode of The Danny Thomas Show , which introduced the character of "Joey Barnes". The series stars entertainer Joey Bishop as Joey Barnes, host of a New York City TV talk show, and Abby Dalton as his wife. The stars on the show included Marlo Thomas, Joe Besser, Guy Marks, Corbett Monica and Mary Treen. NOTE: The most frequent time slot for the series is in bold text. In the 1962-1963... season, The Joey Bishop Show outpowered the competition series on ABC, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, starring Fess Parker. In the 1963-1964 season on NBC, The Joey Bishop Show aired at the same time as comedian Phil Silvers's comeback attempt on CBS -- The New Phil Silvers Show. Bishop survived that season for the final year on CBS- but appeared opposite NBC's Bonanza in the fall, and ABC's Combat in mid-season, before being cancelled at the end of the season.
