Marvel Comics presents a second big-screen version of THE PUNISHER, with this action-packed adaptation from screenwriter-turned-director Jonathan Hensleigh. Frank Castle (Tom Jane) is a retired F.B.I. agent spurred into action after the merciless slaying of his wife, father, and son. Adopting the superhero guise of The Punisher, Castle aims to wreak vengeance for his dead family by tracking down the culprits responsible for their demise. All clues point to Howard Saint (John Travolta), a ruthless businessman and nightclub owner whose son was mistakenly killed by Castle in a botched undercover operation back in his F.B.I. days. Unique amongst Marvel superheroes, The Punisher possesses no special powers, just remarkable strength parried with a blind determination to avenge his family. 4.00 4/5.0
Pros:
Great Action, explosions, pyrotechnics, and Acting.
Cons:
Not a whole lot past the popcorn here.

Review: This is a great action movie, and for a comic adaptation, really very true to the spirit. It is not deathless cinema, but it is fun.

It's not vengeance; It's Punishment ---- The Punisher (2004 release with Thomas Jane) Jul 6, 2008
4.00 4/5.0
Pros:
Jane is great as the brooding "hero", moments where it really works, slow approach worked
Cons:
some missed opportunities in script, ending felt like a let-down

Review: It's not your typical comic book action film, but it is definitely interesting, and though long and slow at times, it does a good job at entertaining.

The Punisher : not your average law abiding citizen Aug 10, 2007
4.00 4/5.0
Pros:
Thomas Jane & some other cast members, violent, fairly faithful to the general character
Cons:
some awkwardly inserted comedic moments, plot holes

Review: Marvel provides us an enjoyable by-the-book origin for its gun toting " angel of death " while letting him have his cake & eat it too (i.e. lots of bad guys punished).

THE BEST COMIC BOOK FILM YOU'VE NEVER SEEN! Feb 20, 2007
5.00 5/5.0
Pros:
One of the few realistic and well done films based on a comic.
Cons:
Nobody really knows about it!

Review: You don't have to know anything about the comic to love this film. If there was any justice this film would have been a blockbuster!
