The Sacred Band

Janet Ellen Morris is an American author of fiction and nonfiction, best known for her fantasy and science fiction and her authorship of a nonlethal weapons concept for the U.S. military. Janet Morris began writing in 1976 and has since published more than 20 novels, many co-authored with her... husband Chris Morris or others. Her first novel, written as Janet E. Morris, was High Couch of Silistra, the first in a quartet of novels with a very strong female protagonist. She has contributed short fiction to the shared universe fantasy series Thieves World, in which she created the Sacred Band of Stepsons, a mythical unit of ancient fighters modeled on the Sacred Band of Thebes. She created, orchestrated, and edited the Bangsian fantasy series Heroes in Hell, writing stories for the series as well as co-writing the related novel, The Little Helliad, with Chris Morris. Most of her fiction work has been in the fantasy and science fiction genres, although she has also written historical and other novels. Her 1983 book "I, the Sun", a detailed biographical novel about the Hittite King Suppiluliuma I was praised for its historical accuracy; O.M.

Christopher Morris is a musician, singer/song-writer, guitarist and composer born in New York in 1946. He is also well known as an author and defense policy expert. Christopher Morris created the Christopher Morris Band, whose MCA album brought him international recognition on album-oriented radio... stations, with eight out of nine songs receiving significant airplay. The album "Christopher Morris Band" included such talent as Vince Colaiuta, the Tower of Power Horn section; Emil Richards and Milt Holland, percussionists; and the Ron Hicklin Singers. Christopher Morris was one of the first creators of "fusion" music, a label given his work in 1977 by Ken Tucker in Rolling Stone Magazine. Christopher Morris was also the band leader for Al Kooper's "Act Like Nothing 's Wrong" 1976 tour. Morris's bands have consistently provided musical exposure to emerging talent, and have included such musicians as Vince Colaiuta , Tim Landers, Leslie Kuipers, Ted Lo, Gerry Etkins, all of whom subsequently achieved musical notability. In 2010, Morris released his second album, "Everybody Knows," on Singing Horse Records, an album including "The Sacred Band March" which related directly to his fictional series of novels, "The Sacred Band," written with his wife, Janet Morris.

In the Sacred Band of Stepsonsliterary series, Beyond Sanctuary is a sub-series of three books, written by Janet Morris, which form part of the Thieves' World fictional universe and the Sacred Band of Stepsons fictional universe. The Beyond Sanctuary literary series is part of the larger Sacred... Band literary series. In the Beyond Sanctuary literary series, over the course of three books, the Sacred Band of Stepsons goes to Tyse and beyond Sanctuary to fight the battle for Wizardwall and the Wizard Wars. The Beyond Sanctuary series consists of three books in the following order: "Beyond Sanctuary," "Beyond the Veil," and "Beyond Wizardwall." All three were published in the 1980s by Baen Books in hardcover, by Science Fiction Bookclub in hardcover, and by Ace Books in mass market trade paperback editions.
