Richard Stanley is an award-winning film director and screenwriter born in South Africa. Stanley currently works and lives in Montségur, France. Richard Stanley was born in Fish Hoek, South Africa on November 22, 1966. His mother, Penny Miller, is an artist and anthropologist best known for... her book Myths and Legends of Southern Africa. As a child Richard travelled extensively with her as she documented the folklore and witchcraft of the subcontinent, spending his formative years in a world where 'magic' was still a fact of everyday life. While still a student at the University of Cape Town, where he studied anthropology, Stanley worked for the archival department of the South African College of Music, filming tribal dance and initiation rituals. During the Angolan Bush War, Stanley was forced to relocate to London where he joined the COSAR, the Committee on South African War Resistors, and he became prominent in the anti-apartheid movement. Stanley's first foray into film making began in high school where he joined the Young Filmmaker's Workshop. Here he created his first film, Rites of Passage.

Thomas Vincent "Tom" Savini is an American actor, stuntman, director, award-winning special effects and makeup artist. He is known for his work on the Living Dead films directed by George A. Romero, as well as Creepshow, The Burning, Friday the 13th, The Prowler, and Maniac. He directed the 1990... remake of Night of the Living Dead. Though officially retired from special effects, he has continued to direct, produce and star in several movies. Savini has been known to refer movie make-up effects projects to graduates of his school. He has appeared in films such as Dawn of the Dead , From Dusk till Dawn, Grindhouse, and Machete. Savini was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was raised in the Catholic religion and graduated from Central Catholic High School, later attending Carnegie-Mellon University. Savini served in Vietnam as a combat photographer. Savini continued to practice with makeup in Vietnam, often frightening indigenous peasants by appearing to suddenly transform into a "monster". In 1970, while Savini was on guard duty, a flare was triggered in the jungle area he was watching.

Douglas Buck is an American film director. Buck grew up in Long Island, later moving to New York City, where he began making films while working as an airport electrical engineer. Buck started by making short films, including Cutting Moments , Home , and Prologue , all three of which were collected... together in the Family Portraits anthology. Rue Morgue magazine selected Cutting Moments as one of its "100 Alternative Horror Films". In 2004 he began making a new version of Brian De Palma's 1973 film Sisters starring Lou Doillon, Stephen Rea and Chloë Sevigny, which was released in 2007, and described by Variety as "a worthy partner to his predecessor's famously violent slasher thriller". His latest film is The Broken Imago, an eco-horror film influenced by the 1976 Spanish film Quién puede matar a un niño. Buck also co-wrote the 1999 film Terror Firmer.

Buddy Giovinazzo is an independent filmmaker and author who is known for his gritty-low budget debut film, Combat Shock, and his collection of harrowing short stories of low urban life in his 1993 novel, Life is Hot in Cracktown. Born May 5, 1957 in New York City, Buddy grew up in Staten Island. He... went to the College of Staten Island where he graduated with a Masters in Cinema, later teaching film there as well. He is the brother of Rick Giovinazzo who is a composer, orchestrator, and the star of his premier film, Combat Shock. His cousin is television and film star, Carmine Giovinazzo. During a time when it was hard to get a project made for Giovinazzo after his debut film, Combat Shock, he turned to writing novels instead and teaching film. The Novels of Buddy Giovinazzo: Acclaimed action-filmmaker Tony Scott has expressed interest in developing Giovinazzo's crime novel, Potsdamer Platz into a motion picture. To date there is no word on what the status of that film is. His novel, Life is Hot in Cracktown, was recently adapted into a feature film by Giovinazzo himself as writer and director.

Jeremy Craig Kasten is an American filmmaker, known for his work in the field of independent horror as well as an editor. Kasten attended Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts and soon after moved to Los Angeles, California working various roles in film crews until learning the craft of film... editing. Soon after, he was able to begin work on The Attic Expeditions, a low-budget experimental horror film starring Andras Jones, Seth Green, and Jeffrey Combs. The response to the film was mixed, due to its complex plot. His 2005 film All Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos uses the Mexican Day of the Dead as a backdrop for zombie horror. The 2006 film The Thirst is a vampire horror film, and Kasten's only film without Jeffrey Combs. In 2007, Kasten released his remake of the Herschell Gordon Lewis classic The Wizard of Gore, starring Kip Pardue, Crispin Glover, Bijou Phillips, Combs, Brad Dourif, and the Suicide Girls. His "cover" adds a film noir edge to the splatter of the original, while maintaining the crucial ratio of blood and breasts. In Summer 2009 Kasten entered production for his latest film, The Dead Ones.
