A compilation of artists on the British record label Evolution. Global Communication, better known as merry electronica gremlins Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard, once oversaw a nifty little label named Evolution. The fine folks at Warp decided to collect Evolution's many styles and genre-bends onto a cool slab of plastic for those unable to find the original vinyl sides. Evolution basically housed the numerous aliases of the Middleton/Pritchard team-Reload, Link, E621, Jedi Knights-alongside some of their like-minded techno associates (Wishmountain, The Horn, Mystic Institute). THEORY OF EVOLUTION is prime British techno and electronica, from Reload's full-throttle dance gymnastics ("Birth of a Disco Dancer") to the scattershot electronics of the Horn's "Waltz With." Link's wonderful "Amazon Amenity" is nine minutes of resolutely gorgeous and atmospheric wide-screen drum-and-bass. Join the (r)evolution!
