They is a horror film directed by Robert Harmon that was released in 2002. The plot centers on the phenomenon of night terrors and their impact on the lives of adults who experienced them as children. They tells the story of a Psychology grad student named Julia and an event that turns her life upside down. As a child she experienced horrifying night terrors, but has seemingly overcome the problem. She reunites with a childhood friend, Billy , and he tells her that he believes their night terrors are caused by something otherworldly and warns her to stay out of the dark, before suddenly... committing suicide. At his funeral, Julia meets two of Billy's friends who slowly begin to believe his claims. Julia's night terrors return and she begins to doubt her perception of the world around her. It turns out her mental illness is caused by creatures only she can see who are attempting to consume her. As she tries to flee them, Julia ends up nearly being consumed by them but narrowly manages to escape and her illusions cause her to harm innocent people.
