One of the best indicators of a stellar pitcher is his strikeout record. A strikeout is the term used when a pitcher gets a batter out by throwing 3 strikes. Nolan Ryan tops this list with over 5,000 strikeouts, the only pitcher to ever cross the 5,000 strikeout mark.
