Torrance

Murdock Stadium is a stadium on the campus of El Camino College in Torrance, California. Built in 1958 the stadium seats around 12,127 on wood-backed... bleacher seats. It was home to the North American Soccer League's Los Angeles Aztecs for two years as well as several United States men's national soccer team FIFA World Cup qualification matches. Today, it hosts El Camino College's American football team. The stadium was originally named after the founding president of the college, Forrest G. Murdock. The stadium was also used as the main stadium in the 2005 remake of the 1974 film, The Longest Yard. The 2005 film starred Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, James Cromwell and Burt Reynolds, who actually played the lead role in the original film.

Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris is an American martial artist and actor. After serving in the United States Air Force, he began his rise to fame as a... martial artist and has since founded his own school, Chun Kuk Do. As a result of his "tough guy" image, an Internet phenomenon began in 2005 known as Chuck Norris facts, ascribing various implausible or even impossible feats to Norris. Jason Acuña , also known as Wee-Man, is an American TV host and actor. He is one of the stars of Jackass on MTV and the host of Fox Sports Net's... skateboarding show 54321. Acuña has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, and is 4 ft ½ in tall. He is also a professional skateboarder. Born in Pisa, Italy of Chilean origin, Acuña grew up in Torrance, California, and attended North High School. He was the subscription manager for the skateboard magazine Big Brother. His association with that magazine led him to become involved with the Jackass television series in 2001. Acuña's Jackass antics include skating as an Oompa-Loompa, kicking himself in the head , dressing as a king while rolling Johnny Knoxville down a staircase in a red carpet, doing deep-knee bends while holding NBA star Shaquille O'Neal on his back, and having Preston Lacy ask someone to help him with his bags, only to have Wee-Man pop out, causing Preston to give chase. Larry Carlton is an American jazz, smooth jazz, jazz fusion, pop, and rock guitarist and singer. He has divided his recording time between solo... recordings and session appearances with various well-known bands. Over his career, Carlton has won four Grammy Awards for his performances and compositions, including performing on the theme song for the hit television series, Hill Street Blues . Carlton started learning to play guitar when he was six years old, studying under Slim Edwards near his Torrance home. Taking an interest in jazz while at high school, his playing style was influenced by Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel, and B.B. King. Saxophonist John Coltrane has also made a notable impression on Carlton, and Carlton's live albums have featured cuts from Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. During the 1970s and early 1980s, Carlton was a session musician in Los Angeles, making up to five hundred recordings a year, including albums by Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, The Four Tops, Christopher Cross, Barbra Streisand, the Partridge Family, and Charly García's Clics Modernos.

Nancy Marie Lopez is an American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1977 and won 48 LPGA Tour events during her LPGA... career, including three major championships. She won the New Mexico Women's Amateur at age 12, and the U.S. Girls' Junior in 1972 and 1974, at ages 15 and 17, respectively. Playing in the U.S. Women's Open as an 18-year-old amateur in 1975, she finished tied for second. In 1976, Lopez was named All-American and Female Athlete of the Year for her play at the University of Tulsa. Adán Santos Sánchez , was a popular American singer. Sánchez was born in Torrance, CA. He was the son of singer Chalino Sánchez.... He was eight years old when his father was kidnapped and killed in the Mexican state of Sinaloa in 1992. Raised by his mother in Paramount, CA, he took up singing under his father's same nickname, "Chalino", and gained a strong local following among Mexican-American teenagers. Sánchez recorded his first full-length album in 1994, entitled Soy el Hijo de Chalino - notable for the 10-year-old's brash and assertive vocals; the album's rousing title track, evokes the style of celebrated singers from Mexico's Golden Age. As he grew into his teens, the majority of Sánchez's album titles began to revolve around the loss of his father - such as La Corona de Mi Padre , and Homenaje a Mi Padre . Brian Eric Bonsall is an American former child actor. He is best known for playing the youngest Keaton child, Andy, on the NBC sitcom Family Ties... from 1986 through 1989. He is also known for his portrayal of Alexander Rozhenko, the son of Worf, on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Bonsall was born in Torrance, California. At the age of five, he won the role of Andy Keaton on the sitcom Family Ties. Bonsall won three Young Artist Awards for his performance on the series.
