Karen Arthur is an American film director, producer, and actress. She has directed two feature films, Lady Beware and The Mafu Cage , but the majority of her work has been in television, where she has had a long and prolific career directing television movies and series. She was one of the first... and best directors to master what is known as the "long take", especially in a series like Cagney & Lacey, where she often choreographed three minute scenes in one shot. In 1985, she was the first woman to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series . She is currently a resident of the town of Springfield, Vermont.more
