North Birmingham Technical College is now part of Birmingham City University. The college was created in 1967 when Aston Technical College moved to... Perry Barr but even then it was being earmarked as part of the proposed Birmingham Polytechnic. At the start of 1971, the college became part of the new City of Birmingham Polytechnic. In 1972, work began on the already planned new buildings for the college at Perry Barr which became the Attwood and Baker buildings of the Birmingham Polytechnic Perry Barr campus.

Birmingham City Business School is a faculty of Birmingham City University based on the university's City North campus in Perry Barr, Birmingham. The... Business School offers courses in Accountancy, Advertising, Business, Business Law, Business Information Technology, Business Psychology, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Communication Technology, Management, Marketing, Multimedia Development, Public Relations and Software Engineering. It formerly offered courses in Computing, although these are now part of the university's Faculty of Technology, Engineering and the Environment. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants have awarded Birmingham City University Business School Platinum Level Status for its training until 2010. This means that their ACCA courses are delivered to the highest possible level according to industry standards. The Business School was the first place to publicise contract cheating, where students put work out to tender and suppliers bid to produce work for those students.

The Faculty of Health at Birmingham City University was formed in 1995 by a merger of Birmingham and Solihull College of Nursing and Midwifery, West... Midlands School of Radiography and the then University of Central England. In 2002, the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine joined the university to offer Ministry of Defence students and nurses better key skills in nurse training. There are eight libraries across the different sites at Birmingham City University. The new, state-of-the-art Seacole library and learning centre is at Edgbaston campus. There are a range of information and reference materials from databases and electronic journals to CD-ROMs, videos, books and slides. The Seacole library at Edgbaston campus has one of the UK's largest specialist health education libraries. .

The Birmingham Institute of Art and Design is the largest British university art and design teaching and research centre outside London. It is a... faculty of Birmingham City University and the largest, most successful department of the university. BIAD dates back, in various incarnations, to the year 1843. It reached its full maturity from the 1890s, as the Birmingham Municipal School of Art at Margaret Street, under the leadership of Edward R. Taylor. BIAD's Archives holds extensive records on the history of art & design in Birmingham, and 20 similar collections have also been deposited with the archives. The main BIAD campus and library is located at Gosta Green, just north of Birmingham city centre, and about three-quarters of a mile from both Birmingham New Street railway station and the Custard Factory quarter. It is adjacent to Aston University.
