The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Université de Montréal is one of a few veterinary medical schools in Canada. It is the only... French-language veterinary college in North America. The faculty is part of the Université de Montréal and is located in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec near Montreal. The veterinary college was located in Oka, Quebec before moving to Saint-Hyacinthe in 1947. In Oka, the veterinary college formed part of an agricultural-veterinary educational centre operated by the Trappists. This centre was financed by the Quebec Department of Agriculture. The Centre became the direct responsibility of the Québec Department of Agriculture from 1947-1969. In 1969, the Centre became a Université de Montréal faculty. Considerable development in staff and facilities has taken place. Since 1972, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has been home to the Centre de Recherche en Reproduction Animale [Animal Reproduction Research Centre], a facility dedicated to the understanding of reproductive issues in large domestic animals .

The Faculty of Law at Université de Montréal was officially founded in 1892. It has consistently been in first position in Maclean’s... magazine’s Canadian civil law schools rankings, until 2010. In addition to its civil law degree , the Law School offers a one-year J.D. in common law for Quebec civil law graduates that enables them to take the bar exam in other Canadian provinces and in New York.

Roger Charles Louis Guillemin received the National Medal of Science in 1976, and the Nobel prize for medicine in 1977 for his work on... neurohormones, sharing the prize that year with Andrew Schally and Rosalyn Sussman Yalow. Completing his undergraduate work at the University of Burgundy, Guillemin received his M.D. degree from the Medical Faculty at Lyon in 1949, and went to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to work with Hans Selye at the Institute of Experimental Medicine and Surgery at the Université de Montréal where he received a Ph.D. in 1953. The same year he moved to the United States to join the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine at Houston. In 1965, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States. In 1970 he helped in creating the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California where he worked until retirement in 1989. Guillemin and Andrew V. Schally discovered the structures of TRH and GnRH in separate laboratories. The process of this scientific discovery at Guillemin's laboratory is the subject of a study by Bruno Latour and Steve Woolgar, published as Laboratory Life.

Georges-Henri Denys Arcand, CC, CQ is a Canadian film director, screenwriter and producer. He has won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 2004... for The Barbarian Invasions. He has also been nominated three further times, including two in the Best Foreign Film category for The Decline of the American Empire in 1987 and Jesus of Montreal in 1990, becoming the only French-Canadian director in history to receive this amount of nominations and, subsequently, winning the award. Also for The Barbarian Invasions, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, losing to Sofia Coppola for Lost in Translation. Denys Arcand has directed three of the five Canadian movies to ever receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film. During his three decades career, he became the most renowned and accomplished Quebec's director, winning many awards from the Cannes Film Festival and many other prestigious awards. He won three César Awards in 2004 for The Barbarian Invasions, including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Film. Arcand was born in Deschambault, Quebec, Canada.

Edward O. Phillips is a Canadian novelist. Phillips is a Canadian who has lived most of his life in Westmount, Quebec. He earned a law degree from... the Université de Montréal in 1956, but decided against legal practice. He subsequently graduated from Harvard University with a Master's Degree in Teaching, and later earned a second Master's Degree in English Literature from Boston University. After teaching school for seven years, he pursued a long-time interest in painting. His work was exhibited in five one-man and numerous group shows. His first novel, Sunday's Child, was published in 1981. Best known for his novel series featuring Geoffry Chadwick, corporate lawyer, reluctant hero and wry social commentator, Phillips won the Arthur Ellis Award for his novel Buried on Sunday.
