The University of British Columbia Okanagan is a campus of the University of British Columbia, located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The... official name for the campus is simply UBC's Okanagan Campus, although it is frequently called 'UBCO'. Prior to 2005, the campus itself belonged to the former Okanagan University College. Smaller than the older campus in Vancouver, Okanagan campus presently has approximately 10,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled. The current campus for UBC Okanagan was originally used by Okanagan University College. That college was founded in 1989 as a part of a plan by the government to improve access to post-secondary education in Canada. Originally degrees were awarded in partnership with other universities, but by 1995, the university began granting degrees in its own name. Starting in the late 1990s, Okanagan University began lobbying efforts to gain full university status. In December 2002 the British Columbia Progress Board submitted a report to the provincial government, recognising the need to expand postsecondary opportunities in Okanagan.

The Sauder School of Business is a business school at the University of British Columbia located in the University Endowment Lands, directly west of... the city limits of Vancouver, Canada. There are currently over 30,000 alumni in more than 70 countries. Originally named the UBC Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, the school was renamed on June 5, 2003 as the Sauder School of Business, coinciding with the donation of a $20 million endowment by Dr. William Sauder. The $20 million endowment was, at the time, the largest single private donation made to name a Canadian business school. The school provides diploma, bachelor, masters, MBA, Ph.D. and Executive Education programs. These include: The Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia is a leading academic business school. The school is situated in Vancouver in the heart of the UBC Point Grey campus. A second campus, UBC Robson Square, is located in the centre of Vancouver's downtown peninsula. The business school was established as the UBC Faculty of Commerce in 1956.

Nicole Evangeline Lilly is a Canadian actress who starred as Kate Austen in the ABC television drama Lost, from 2004 to 2010. Evangeline Lilly was... born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, and raised in small-town British Columbia in a Baptist and Mennonite family. Her father was an economics teacher, and her mother was a beauty consultant. Lilly also has two sisters. She graduated from W. J. Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Lilly previously served as a missionary in the Philippines and a flight attendant with Royal Airlines. She speaks French very well. She attended the University of British Columbia and attained a degree in International Relations. On December 20, 2006, Lilly's house in Kailua, Hawaii, was completely destroyed by fire while she was on the Lost set. The cause of the fire was an electrical problem. Lilly was previously married to Canadian hockey player Murray Hone. From 2004 to 2009, she dated Lost co-star Dominic Monaghan. She had her first child, a son named Kahekili , with boyfriend Norman Kali in Hawaii in May 2011. Lilly studied acting at The Yaletown Actors Lab.

Pierre Francis de Marigny Berton, CC OOnt was a noted Canadian author of non-fiction, especially Canadiana and Canadian history, and was a... well-known television personality and journalist. An accomplished storyteller, Berton was one of Canada's most prolific and popular authors. He wrote 50 books, including ones on popular culture, Canadian history, critiques of mainstream religion, anthologies, children's books and historical works for youth. He was born on July 12, 1920, in Whitehorse, Yukon, where his father had moved for the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. His family moved to Dawson City, Yukon in 1921, where they lived until moving to Victoria, British Columbia in 1932. His mother, Laura Beatrice Berton was a school teacher in Toronto until she was offered a job as a teacher in Dawson City at the age of 29 in 1907. She met Frank Berton in the nearby mining town of Granville shortly after settling in Dawson and teaching kindergarten.

Stevie Cameron is an award-winning Canadian investigative journalist and best-selling author. Born in Belleville, Ontario in 1943, she now lives in... Toronto with her husband, David Cameron, a professor at the University of Toronto. They have two daughters; both Toronto-based screenwriters. Born in Belleville, Ontario, Stevie Cameron has an honours B.A. in English from the University of British Columbia, worked for the Department of External Affairs in Ottawa in the 1960s, attended graduate school at University College London, England for three years and taught English literature at Trent University. After a year at Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School in Paris in 1975, she began working as a food writer and in 1977 became the food editor of the Toronto Star; a year later she moved to the Ottawa Journal as Lifestyles editor. She later became the Ottawa Citizen’s Lifestyles and Travel editor; four years later she joined a new investigative journalism unit at the Citizen and also became a national political columnist. In 1986 Cameron moved to Toronto as a national columnist and reporter for the Globe and Mail and published her first book, in 1989, called Ottawa Inside Out.

Susan Joan Wood , and they published the fanzine Energumen together until 1973. Energumen won the 1973 Hugo for Best Fanzine. Wood and Glicksohn were... co-guests of honor at the 1975 World Science Fiction Convention. Wood published a great deal of trenchant criticism of the field, both in fanzines and in more formal venues. She received three Hugo Awards for Best Fan Writer, in 1974, 1977, and 1981. In 1976 she was instrumental in organizing the first feminist panel at a science fiction convention, at MidAmericon. The reaction to this helped lead to the founding of A Women's APA and of WisCon. Wood earned a B.A. and an M.A. from Carleton University and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.

In Canada, Adams has acted primarily in television, including roles in The Beachcombers, Da Vinci's Inquest, Neon Rider, These Arms of Mine, Da Vinci's City Hall, The L Word, and Wolf Canyon, and stage roles in Lear and Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing. He also appeared in the documentary film Just Watch Me: Trudeau and the 70's Generation, speaking about his own experience as a young gay First Nations man growing up in Canada during the Trudeau era. His plays, including Dreams of Sheep, Snapshots, Dirty Dog River and Janice's Christmas, have been produced across Canada and internationally.

He identified the phosphotyrosine-binding Src homology 2 as the prototypic non-catalytic interaction module. SH2 domains serve as a model for a large family of protein modules that act together to control many aspects of cellular signaling. Since the discovery of SH2 domains, hundreds of different modules have been identified in many proteins. Born in Maidstone, England, he received a MA in biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Pawson received his Ph.D. from King's College London in 1976. From 1976 to 1980 he pursued postdoctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley. George Woodcock was a Canadian writer of political biography and history, an anarchist thinker, an essayist and literary critic. He was also a poet,... and published several volumes of travel writing. He founded in 1959 the journal Canadian Literature, the first academic journal specifically dedicated to Canadian writing. He is perhaps best remembered elsewhere for writing Anarchism: A History of Libertarian Ideas and Movements , the first post-War history of anarchism. Woodcock was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but moved with his parents to England at an early age, attending Sir William Borlase's Grammar School in Marlow and Morley College. Though his family was quite poor, Woodcock had the opportunity to go to Oxford University on a partial scholarship; however, he turned down the chance, because he would have had to become a member of the clergy. Instead, he took a job as a clerk at the Great Western Railway and it was there that he first became interested in anarchism .
