The University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music is the performing arts college of the University of Cincinnati and is one of the... nation's leading music conservatories. In its most recent rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked Cincinnati sixth nationally among university programs for pursuing a graduate music degree. Its voice program was ranked third, and its conducting program was ranked fifth. CCM also is an All Steinway School, recently acquiring that title in early 2009 after purchasing 165 new pianos, the largest unit purchase in Steinway history. The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music was formed in August 1955 from the merger of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, formed in 1867 as part of a girls' finishing school, and the College of Music of Cincinnati, which opened in 1878. CCM was later incorporated into the University of Cincinnati on August 1, 1962.

The Academic Health Center consists of multiple University of Cincinnati colleges that are listed below, Hoxworth Blood Center, UC Barrett Cancer Institute, and the programs and institutes at the Reading Campus. The AHC also has strong ties to UC Health, which includes University Hospital, West Chester Hospital, and University of Cincinnati Physicians. The academic health center concept originated with physician Daniel Drake, who founded the Medical College of Ohio, which is the precursor of the UC College of Medicine, in 1819. For most of its history a municipally owned college, in July 1977 the University of Cincinnati joined Ohio's higher education system. In 1982 its teaching hospital, known as the General Hospital and in its present location since 1915, was renamed the University of Cincinnati Hospital, and later changed its name to its current name, University Hospital.

New to the list in 2006 was the school's industrial design program ranking at No. 2, besting the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit and second only to the prestigious Art Center College of Design in California.

Donald F. Steiner is an American biochemist and a professor at the University of Chicago. Donald F. Steiner was born in 1930 in the United States.... He completed his B.S. in Chemistry and Zoology from the University of Cincinnati in 1952. He completed his M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Chicago in 1956 and M.D. from the same university in 1956. Donald F. Steiner is known for his discoveries on insulin, a hormone that helps the body control the use of sugar. He found that insulin is synthesized from a larger precursor protein in the beta cells of the pancreas and this led the way to elucidation of how the islet cells function, and how peptide hormones, in general, are synthesized and metabolized. He and his colleagues have also devised methods for measuring insulin and its precursors in human serum. In 1984/5, he was awarded the Wolf Prize in Medicine for "his discoveries concerning the bio-synthesis and processing of insulin which have had profound implications for basic biology and clinical medicine".
