The Fredric G. Levin College of Law is the law school of the University of Florida located in Gainesville, Florida. The College of Law was founded in... 1909. It was first housed in Thomas Hall, and then in Bryan Hall from 1914 to 1969. The college desegregated on September 15, 1958, with the admission of its first African-American student, and its faculty was desegregated shortly thereafter. In 1969, the college moved to its current location in Holland Hall, which is named after the former Florida Governor, U.S. Senator, and alumnus Spessard L. Holland . Holland Hall is located in the northwest section of the university's campus. In 1984, Bruton-Geer Hall, named after the parents of alumnus Judge James D. Bruton and his wife Quintilla Geer Bruton, was added to the law school complex. The College of Law was renamed the Levin College of Law in 1999 after prominent Pensacola trial lawyer and alumnus Fredric G. Levin , who donated $10 million to the college, a sum that was matched by a $10 million grant from the state of Florida to create a $20 million endowment.

The Warrington College of Business Administration is the business school at the University of Florida. About 6300 students are enrolled in classes,... including undergraduates and graduate students, including Master of Business Administration and Ph.D.-seeking students. Undergraduate programs include accounting, computer science, decision and information sciences, economics, finance, management, and marketing. The MBA Program Office offers several variations of its degree program; all students earn the same Master of Business Administration degree: traditional, professional, executive, Internet . A satellite UFMBA program is offered in South Florida at the Broward Community College Weston Center satellite campus in the Fort Lauderdale/Weston area. All programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. International programs in France, England, Spain and Rome are offered to undergraduate and graduate students. Students earn credits while studying abroad. The Master of Arts in international business is the international graduate program offered.

The College of Engineering at the University of Florida provides formal education and research in more than 12 fields of engineering, including:... aerospace, agricultural, biological, biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, materials, and mechanical. The College of Engineering was founded in 1910. Dean John R. Benton led five faculty members who taught 48 students a curriculum of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. The first engineering building, later named Benton Hall, was finished in 1911. The purpose of the college was to "prepare young men for useful careers by training engineers and technical employees." The college's first graduating class consisted of five men. By 1915, the college had 35 graduates, 23 being employed in engineering, mostly in the state of Florida. In 1918, most university activities were subordinated to activities supporting the World War I effort. The college was home to U.S. Army training school work and a war-measures school for radio operators. Following the war, enrollment increased. The 1920 freshman class exceeded 300 men — almost twice the size of the previous year, and UF began charging tuition fees.

John Clarke Slater was a noted American physicist who made major contributions to the theory of the electronic structure of atoms, molecules and... solids. This work is of ongoing importance in chemistry, as well as in many areas of physics. He also made major contributions to microwave electronics. He received a B.S. from the University of Rochester in 1920 and a Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard in 1923, then did post-doctoral work at the universities of Cambridge and Copenhagen. On his return to the U.S. he joined the Physics Department at Harvard. In 1930, Karl Compton, the President of MIT, appointed Slater as Chairman of the MIT Department of Physics. He recast the undergraduate physics curriculum, wrote 14 books between 1933 and 1968, and built a department of major international prestige. During World War II, his work on microwave transmission, done partly at the Bell Laboratories and in association with the MIT Radiation Laboratory, was of major importance in the development of radar. In 1950, Slater founded the Solid State and Molecular Theory Group within the Physics Department.

Fuller W. Bazer is an American animal scientist and a Regents Fellow, Distinguished Professor, and O.D. Butler Chair in Animal Science at Texas... A&M University. Fuller W. Bazer was born in 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA, in 1956 and was inducted into the Byrd Alumni Hall of Fame in 2002. He received his BS in Biology from Centenary College in Shreveport, LA; and his Masters at LSU. He completed his Ph.D. in animal science from North Carolina State University. He was a graduate research professor in animal science and pediatrics at the University of Florida before moving to Texas A&M University in 1992. Fuller W. Bazer is known for his contributions in the biological mystery of embryo-maternal signaling, that maintain pregnancy and survival of the embryo in livestock species. It was known that chemical communication between embryo and mother was essential for successful pregnancy in mammals. However, little was known about the details before R. Michael Roberts and Fuller W. Bazer collaborated.

Theo Colborn is Founder and President of The Endocrine Disruption Exchange , based in Paonia, Colorado, and Professor Emeritus of Zoology at the... University of Florida, Gainesville. She is an environmental health analyst, and best known for her studies on the health effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals. Dr. Colborn earned a PhD at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in Zoology ; an MA in Science at Western State College of Colorado ; and a BS in Pharmacy from Rutgers University, College of Pharmacy. In 1985, Dr. Colborn received a Fellowship from the Office of Technology Assessment, U.S. Congress. From there she joined the Conservation Foundation in 1987 to provide scientific guidance for the 1990 book, Great Lakes, Great Legacy?, in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Public Policy, Ottawa, Canada at the request of the Canada/US International Joint Commission. She held a Chair for three years, starting in 1990, with the W. Alton Jones Foundation, and was given a three-year Pew Fellows Award in 1993. William Logan is an American poet, critic and scholar. Logan was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to W. Donald Logan, Jr. and Nancy Damon Logan. He... lives in Gainesville, Florida and Cambridge, England with his wife, the poet and artist, Debora Greger. Educated at Yale and the Iowa Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa , he has authored eight books of poetry as well as five books of criticism. He is a professor of creative writing at the University of Florida. Logan's poetry reviews have appeared in the New York Times Book Review. Many of these reviews have been quite controversial, leading Slate magazine to call him "the most hated man in American poetry . . .[and] its guiltiest pleasure". In addition to criticism, Logan has been praised by many such as Richard Tillinghast who recognizes him as an "accomplished and original poetLogan writes with vigor, almost classical restraint and a fine sense of musicality".
