The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry evolved from the Columbian Dental College, founded in Chicago in 1891. The College... informally affiliated with the University of Illinois in 1901, and was chartered as an official College of the University in 1913. Since then, the College has endeavored to provide the most current technology to students, and often the College’s innovations in teaching and clinical programs have been models for dental schools throughout the country. As part of a public University, the College has a commitment to community oral health outreach service and to serving the underserved, providing nearly $1 million in uncompensated care to indigent dental patients annually. With an emphasis on pediatric dentistry, faculty and students participate in health fairs and clinics in elementary schools, long-term care facilities, churches, and Head Start programs. The College also provides dental services for senior citizens and children in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Public Health. More than 100,000 patients are treated each year in the College’s clinics.

The UIC College of Business Administration is the business school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The college is divided amongst four... subject-area departments: Undergraduate and graduate degrees are conferred through the College of Business Administration and Liautaud Graduate School of Business respectively. Business courses were first offered at the University of Illinois facility at Navy Pier in 1946. The College of Business Administration was created with the building of the original Circle Campus in 1965. The first degree was conferred the following year. Two years later, in 1968, a graduate program was established and in 1969, an MBA program was approved. The college received AACSB accreditation in 1971. In 1982, The Circle Campus and the Medical Center were merged to form the University of Illinois at Chicago. Five years after that, a PhD program was approved for the CBA and, in 1993, the first PhD was awarded. With a donation from the Liautaud family , the Liautaud Graduate School of Business was created in 2003 to unify all graduate instruction in the college.

Robert Vincent Remini is a historian and a professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the author of numerous works about... President Andrew Jackson and the Jacksonian Era. For the third volume of Andrew Jackson, subtitled The Course of American Democracy, 1833-1845, he won the 1984 U.S. National Book Award for Nonfiction. He has also written biographies of Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams, Martin van Buren, Joseph Smith and Daniel Webster. Remini received his B.S. from Fordham University in 1943 and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University . He is professor of history emeritus and research professor of humanities emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago. On April 28, 2005, Remini was appointed the Historian of the United States House of Representatives. His most recent work is At the Edge of the Precipice: Henry Clay and the Compromise that Saved the Union .

Gerald Graff is a professor of English and Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his B.A. in English from the University of... Chicago in 1959 and his Ph.D. in English and American Literature from Stanford University in 1963. He has taught at the University of New Mexico, Northwestern University, the University of California at Irvine and at Berkeley, as well as Ohio State University, Washington University, and the University of Chicago. He has been teaching at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 2000. Graff's earlier works emphasized literature's rational, discursive qualities, and in Literature Against Itself he took aim at what he saw as the anti-mimetic, irrationalist assumptions underlying both avant-garde writing and structuralist/poststructuralist critical theory. Graff's emphasis on literature as rational statement bears comparison with the theories of Yvor Winters, his professor at Stanford in the 1960s. Graff's later research has a heavy focus on pedagogy. He has discussed things like his own dislike of books at an early age and the way in which academic discourse is needlessly obscure. Dr.

Stanley Eugene Fish is an American literary theorist and legal scholar. He was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He is often associated... with postmodernism, at times to his irritation, as he describes himself as an anti-foundationalist. He is the Davidson-Kahn Distinguished University Professor of Humanities and a professor of law at Florida International University, in Miami, as well as Dean Emeritus of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the author of 12 books. Fish has also taught at the Cardozo School of Law, University of California, Berkeley, Johns Hopkins University, The University of Pennsylvania, Yale Law, Columbia University, The John Marshall Law School, and Duke University. Fish earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959, and an M.A. from Yale University in 1960. He completed his Ph.D. in 1962, also at Yale University. He taught English at the University of California at Berkeley and Johns Hopkins University before becoming Arts and Sciences Professor of English and Professor of Law at Duke University from 1986 to 1998.
