Established in 1871, the faculty is the first medical school in the Philippines. It is proclaimed to be a Center of Excellence by the Commission on Higher Education and a consistent Top Performing Medical School in the Philippine Physician Licensure Examination. The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery was founded in 1871. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, enrolled in the Faculty to pursue foundational courses in medicine. He pursued further studies in Ophthalmology at Madrid Central University , the University of Paris, and the University of Heidelberg in Germany. The Faculty consistently ranks among the top performing medical schools in the country. Widely considered as the preeminent medical school in the country, the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery has also produced the largest number of competent, compassionate and committed medical doctors in Philippine history.

The University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Pharmacy is the pharmaceutical school of the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest and the largest Catholic... university in Manila, Philippines. Established in 1871, the faculty is the first pharmaceutical institution in the Philippines. It is a consistent Top Performing Pharmacy School & Medical Technology School in the Philippine Pharmacist & Medical Technologist Licensure Examinations. Being the oldest in the Philippines, the Faculty of Pharmacy was founded in May 1871 by virtue of the Modification of the Moret decree. It was during the Spanish regime, the degree in pharmacy was one of six in years. In 1901, when the American administration took over, the curriculum was revised to four years. Then in 1916 the degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy was further revised to three years. It was until 1930 when a four-year curriculum was adapted. Finally in 1954, the curriculum was revised to five years. In 1984, the degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy curriculum was again reduced to four years with the integration of some subjects.

The college is one of the first business schools in the Philippines. It is proclaimed to be a Center of Development in Financial Management by the Commission on Higher Education. Established as a mere department of the College of Education and supervised by the Very Rev. Fr. Silvestre Sancho, O.P. in 1930, the Department of Commerce started with only twelve enrollees and offered a two-year associate program in Commercial Science. Consistent increase in enrollment lead to it being elevated into a School of Commerce in 1933 and the Department of Public Instruction granted its eventual recognition of the School’s four-year degree program, Bachelor of Science in Commerce.
