The McCombs School of Business, also referred to as the McCombs School or simply McCombs, is a business school at The University of Texas at Austin.... In addition to the main Austin campus, McCombs offers classes outside Central Texas in Dallas, Houston and internationally in Mexico City. The McCombs School of Business offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs for their average 6,000 students each year, adding to its 85,000 member alumni base from a variety of business fields. In addition to traditional classroom degree programs, McCombs is home to 14 collaborative research centers, the international business plan competition: Venture Labs Investment Competition , and executive education programs. The McCombs School of Business consistently ranks among the top business schools in the nation, the majority in the top 10 and is the oldest public business school in Texas. The University of Texas at Austin was founded in 1883, and the university's School of Business Administration was established a few decades later in 1922.

The University of Texas School of Law, also known as UT Law, is an ABA-certified American law school located on the University of Texas at Austin... campus. The law school has been in operation since the founding of the University in 1883. It was one of only two schools at the University when it was founded; the other was the liberal arts school. The school offers both Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees. It also offers dual degree programs with the JD, such as an MBA, MPA, and PhD. The law school is consistently ranked among the top twenty law schools in the United States and has a reputation for turning out graduates who become high-profile lawyers and public servants. The school is ranked #14 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The school has 19,000 living alumni, over 4,000 of whom practice law outside of Texas. UT Law is among the most selective law schools in the nation. For the class of 2010, 5,815 students applied and 24% were accepted with a class median LSAT score of 167. Although the minimum GPA to apply is 2.2, the median GPA for the admitted class is 3.71. The average age of admitted students is 24, and women make up 46% of the class.

The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs is a graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin that was founded in 1970 to offer... professional training in public policy analysis and administration for students interested in pursuing careers in government and public affairs-related areas of the private and nonprofit sectors. Degree programs include a Masters of Public Affairs , a mid-career MPAff sequence, thirteen MPAff dual degree programs, a Masters of Global Policy Studies , six MGPS dual degree programs and a Ph.D. in Public Policy. The LBJ School offers a Master of Public Affairs program in public policy analysis and administration that prepares graduates to assume leadership positions in government, business, and non-profit organizations. In addition, thirteen master's-level dual degree programs blend public affairs study with specialized professions or area studies and are structured so that students can earn the Master of Public Affairs degree and a second degree in less time than it would take to earn them separately.

The College of Communication is the communication college at The University of Texas at Austin. The College was established in 1965 in an effort to... consolidate the all Communication Studies under one roof including the Department of Public Speaking , School of Journalism , and independent department of Radio-Television-Film . The College is home to one of the country's top film programs as well as a Journalism department which consistently produces the nation's number one college newspaper. The College of Communication offers Bachelor of Science degrees in several communications disciplines as well as offering a robust postgraduate circulum. The Department of Public Speaking, now the department of Communication Studies, at UT Austin was established in 1899, and the School of Journalism began in 1914 moving into its own building in 1952. An early interest in broadcasting on campus resulted in the formation of the Department of Radio-Television-Film. In 1921, a radio station was established to conduct experimental work in radio communication, and by the 1930s what was probably the first television broadcast in Texas originated on the campus.

Thomas Henry Nobis, Jr. is a former American football player. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School where he was an all-state offensive end and... middle linebacker. He played college football for the University of Texas at Austin and professionally, in the National Football League, for the Atlanta Falcons. Tommy Nobis is one of college football’s all-time greatest linebackers. In his tenure with the Texas Longhorns he averaged nearly 20 tackles a game and, as the only sophomore starter, was an important participant on the Longhorns’ 1963 National College Football Championship team, which defeated Heisman Trophy winner Roger Staubach in the Cotton Bowl Classic. Nobis was a two time All-American and made the All-Southwest Conference team three times. In the 1965 Orange Bowl, Nobis made one of the most famous tackles in the game’s history. On fourth-and-inches, and clinging to a 21-17 lead, he led his teammates to a game saving halt of top ranked Alabama’s QB Joe Namath. Tommy Nobis was an iron man, playing on both defense and offense for his entire college career.

Robert Anthony Rodríguez is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, editor and musician. He shoots and produces... many of his films in his native Texas and Mexico. Rodríguez was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Mexican-American parents Rebecca , a nurse, and Cecilio G. Rodríguez, a salesman. He began his interest in film at age 11 when his father bought one of the first VCRs, which came with a camera. While attending St. Anthony High School, he was commissioned to videotape the school's football games. According to his sister he was fired soon after for shooting them with a cinematic style, getting shots of parents' reactions and the ball traveling through the air instead of shooting the whole play. There he met Carlos Gallardo; they both shot films on video throughout high school and college.

McConaughey moved to Longview, Texas — located east of Dallas, where he attended Longview High School. While in high school, he was voted most handsome in the Longview Lobo Yearbook.

Eric Johnson is an American musician, songwriter, and vocalist from Austin, Texas. Best known for his electric guitar skills, Johnson is also a... highly proficient acoustic, lap steel, resonator, and bass guitarist as well as an accomplished pianist and vocalist. Johnson has mastered a wide array of musical genres evidenced by the many different styles incorporated in both his studio and live performances including rock, blues, jazz, fusion, soul, folk, New Age, classical, and country and western. Guitar Player magazine has called Johnson "one of the most respected guitarists on the planet". Johnson's stylistic diversity and technical proficiency with the guitar have been praised by Bill Hicks. David M. Oshinsky is a Pulitzer Prize-winning American historian; he currently holds the Jack S. Steven Weinberg was born in 1933 in New York City to Jewish immigrants Frederick and Eva Weinberg. John Archibald Wheeler was an American theoretical physicist who was largely responsible for reviving interest in general relativity in the United... States after World War II. Wheeler also worked with Niels Bohr in explaining the basic principles behind nuclear fission. One of the later collaborators of Albert Einstein, he tried to achieve Einstein's vision of a unified field theory. He is also known for having coined the terms black hole, quantum foam and wormhole and the phrase "it from bit". For most of his career, Wheeler was a professor at Princeton University and was influential in mentoring a generation of physicists who made notable contributions to quantum mechanics and gravitation. John Archibald Wheeler was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from the Baltimore City College high school in 1926 and earned his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University in 1933. His dissertation research work, carried out under the supervision of Karl Herzfeld, was on the theory of the dispersion and absorption of helium.

Edsger Wybe Dijkstra ; Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɛtsxər ˈwibə ˈdɛɪkstra]  was a Dutch computer... scientist. He received the 1972 Turing Award for fundamental contributions to developing programming languages, and was the Schlumberger Centennial Chair of Computer Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin from 1984 until 2000. Shortly before his death in 2002, he received the ACM PODC Influential Paper Award in distributed computing for his work on self-stabilization of program computation. This annual award was renamed the Dijkstra Prize the following year, in his honor. Born in Rotterdam, Dijkstra studied theoretical physics at Leiden University, but quickly realized he was more interested in computer science. Originally employed by the Mathematisch Centrum in Amsterdam, he held a professorship at the Eindhoven University of Technology, worked as a research fellow for Burroughs Corporation in the early 1980s, and later held the Schlumberger Centennial Chair in Computer Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, in the United States. He retired in 2000.
