UW Bothell shares a campus with Cascadia Community College.UW Bothell is the largest branch campus in the state. UW Bothell is located just northwest of the junction of Interstate 405 and State Route 522. Classes are offered day and evening for full or part-time students. Programs are offered in business, education, nursing, computing, and interdisciplinary arts and sciences. UW Bothell currently offers 30 bachelor's and master's degrees in six programs: Business Administration, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences,Computing and Software Systems, Education, Nursing, and Science and Technology. Undergraduate Programs Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Business students and alumni participate in the Business Development Center and the Center for Student Entrepreneurship. The College of Architecture and Urban Planning or CAUP at the University of Washington is made up of four Departments, Architecture, Construction... Management, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design & Planning, as well as several interdisciplinary centers and institutes. The College traces its history to 1914, when the Department of Architecture was founded . The Department grew slowly and focused strictly on architecture until the early 1940s when a city planning curriculum was inaugurated. After the Second World War, the architecture and planning programs grew rapidly. The College of Architecture and Urban Planning was established in 1957; Arthur Herrman was the first Dean. Architecture and Urban Planning were established as separate Departments within the CAUP by 1961; Landscape Architecture and Building Construction were established as Departments later in the 1960s.

The University of Washington School of Law is the law school of the University of Washington, located on the northwest corner of the main campus in... Seattle, Washington. The most recent 2012 U.S. News & World Report law school rankings place it at #30, making it the highest-ranking law school in the Pacific Northwest, and the eleventh highest-ranking public law school in the United States. The school was first organized in 1899. The current law building was completed and occupied in September 2003, funded by and named after William H. Gates, Sr., the father of Microsoft-founder Bill Gates. Its architecture is modern and energy-efficient, with crystals allowing natural light to fill the library and corridors. The school was previously located in the second Condon Hall from 1974-2003, located several blocks west of the main campus. From 1933-74 the law school occupied the first Condon Hall in The Quad, which was renamed "Gowen Hall" in 1974. As of 2008, the enrollment was 671 students , the faculty numbered 118 , and the student/faculty ratio was 11:1. The school is fully accredited by the American Bar Association.

His television series roles include Orson Hodge on ABC's Desperate Housewives from 2006 to 2010, Trey MacDougal on HBO's Sex and the City, and Special Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks. MacLachlan was born in Yakima, Washington. His mother was a public relations director and his father was a stockbroker and lawyer. He is of Scottish descent. He has two younger brothers named Craig and Kent, both of whom live in the Pacific Northwest. MacLachlan graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1977. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1982 and, shortly afterward, moved to Hollywood, California to pursue his career. MacLachlan has worked extensively with David Lynch. He first appeared as Paul Atreides in the film Dune , Lynch's adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel, and as Jeffrey Beaumont in Blue Velvet .

Franklin Patrick Herbert, Jr. was a critically acclaimed and commercially successful American science fiction author. Although a short story author,... he is best known for his novels, most notably Dune and its five sequels. The Dune saga, set in the distant future and taking place over millennia, deals with themes such as human survival and evolution, ecology, and the intersection of religion, politics and power. Dune itself is the "best-selling science fiction novel of all time," and the series is widely considered to be among the classics in the genre. Frank Herbert was born on October 8, 1920, in Tacoma, Washington, to Frank Patrick Herbert Sr. and Eileen McCarthy Herbert. He graduated from high school in 1938, and in 1939 he lied about his age in order to get his first newspaper job at the Glendale Star. A temporary hiatus occurred during his career when he served in the U.S. Navy's Seabees for six months as a photographer during World War II until he was given a medical discharge. He married Flora Parkinson in San Pedro, California in 1941. They had a daughter, Penny , but divorced in 1945.

Henry King Ketcham , better known as Hank Ketcham, was an American cartoonist who created the Dennis the Menace comic strip, writing and drawing it... from 1951 to 1994, when he retired from drawing the daily cartoon and took up painting full time in his home studio. In 1953, he received the Reuben Award for the strip, which continues today in the hands of other artists. Born in Seattle, Washington, Ketcham was the son of Weaver Vinson Ketcham and Virginia King. His great-grandfather was James Weaver, who ran for President twice on third party tickets in the late 19th century. When he was six years old, his father had a guest over for dinner who was an illustrator. After dinner, he showed the youngster his "magic pencil" and drew some illustrations. Ketcham was immediately hooked, and soon his father set up a small desk in the closet of his bedroom at which he could draw. After graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1937, he attended the University of Washington but dropped out after his first year and hitchhiked to Los Angeles, hoping to work for Walt Disney.

Douglass Cecil North is an American economist known for his work in economic history. He is the co-recipient of the 1993 Nobel Memorial Prize in... Economic Sciences. In the words of the Nobel Committee, North and Fogel were awarded the prize "for having renewed research in economic history by applying economic theory and quantitative methods in order to explain economic and institutional change." Douglass North was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on November 5, 1920. He moved several times as a child due to his father's work at MetLife, living in Cambridge, Ottawa, Lausanne, New York City and Wallingford. North was educated at Ashbury College in Ottawa, Ontario and The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut. He was accepted at Harvard at the same time that his father became the head of MetLife on the west coast, so North opted to go to University of California, Berkeley. In 1942, he graduated with a B.A. in General Curriculum-Humanities. Although his grades amounted to slightly better than a "C" average, he managed to complete a triple major in political science, philosophy and economics.

Dr. Edward Donnall Thomas is an American physician, professor emeritus at the University of Washington, and director emeritus of the clinical... research division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. In 1990 he shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Joseph E. Murray for the development of cell and organ transplantation. Thomas developed bone marrow transplantation as a treatment for leukemia. Thomas attended the University of Texas at Austin, he studied chemistry and chemical engineering, graduating with a B.A. in 1941 and an M. A. in 1943. While Thomas was an undergraduate he met his wife, Dorothy Martin while she was training to be journalist. They had three children. Thomas entered Harvard Medical School in 1943, receiving an M.D. in 1946. Dottie became a lab technician during this time to support the family, and the pair have worked closely ever since. Thomas also received National Medal of Science in 1990.

Fischer, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1992 for describing how reversible phosphorylation works as a switch to activate proteins and regulate various cellular processes. Edwin Krebs is not to be confused with Hans Adolf Krebs , who was also a Nobel Prize winning biochemist and who discovered the citric acid cycle, which is also known as the Krebs cycle. Krebs was born in Lansing, Iowa, the third child of William Carl Krebs, a Presbyterian minister and Louise Helen Krebs. The family moved frequently due to the nature of his father's work, though they settled in Greenville, Illinois when Krebs was six and remained there until his father's unexpected death in 1933. Louise Krebs decided to move her family to Urbana, Illinois, where Krebs's elder brothers were attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Edmond H. Fischer is a Swiss American biochemist. He and his collaborator Edwin G. Krebs were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in... 1992 for describing how reversible phosphorylation works as a switch to activate proteins and regulate various cellular processes. Fischer was born in Shanghai, China. His mother, Renée Tapernoux, was born in France, and his father, Oscar Fischer, was born in Austria. Fischer's maternal grandfather founded the "Courrier de Chine" in Shanghai, which is the first newspaper published in French in China; he also helped to establish "l'Ecole Municipale Française" in Shanghai, where Fischer attended primary school. At age 7 he and his two older brothers were sent to the Swiss boarding school La Châtaigneraie, near the home town of his mother, Renée Tapernoux, in Vevey. At high school he made a pact with a childhood friend, one of them would become a doctor and the other a scientist and then they could cure the ills of the world. While at high school Fischer was admitted to the Geneva Conservatory of Music, he also considered becoming a professional musician.
