The three University of Illinois round barns played a special role in the promotion and popularity of the American round barn. They are located in... the U.S. city of Urbana, Illinois on the campus of the University of Illinois . The University of Illinois was home to one of the Agricultural Experiment Stations, located at U.S. universities, which were at the heart of the promotion of the round barn. At least one round barn in Illinois was built specifically after its owner viewed the barns at the university. Though originally an experiment the three barns helped to lead the way for round barn construction throughout the Midwest, particularly in Illinois. The barns were listed as contributing properties to the U of I Experimental Dairy Farm Historic District, which was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Illinois was formed in 1888, one year after the Hatch Act provided federal funds.

Kenney Gym is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Urbana, Illinois, on the campus of the University of Illinois and is named after Harold E. Kenney.... The arena opened in 1890 and was originally known as the Men's Gym Annex. It is home to the Fighting Illini gymnastics team. Prior to the opening of Huff Hall in 1925, Kenney Gym housed the basketball team. It also was home to the volleyball program, which moved to Huff Hall in 1990. From 1919 to 1925, Kenney Gym played host to the state finals of the Illinois High School Association boys' basketball tournament. Currently the building is operated by the Department of Campus Recreation, and features an open gym for pick-up basketball games, occasional dodgeball tournaments, and a weight room. It serves as the gym for University Laboratory High School in Urbana, a department of the University of Illinois located two blocks east of Kenney Gym on Springfield Avenue. Kenney Gym was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 1986. Listed in the register as Military Drill Hall and Men's Gymnasium, it was designed by Nathan Clifford Ricker and Nelson Strong Spencer.

There, she began taking dancing lessons and modeling, which led to her participation in a talent competition, where she was discovered by Hollywood talent scout and manager, Randy James. She attended Greenway High School as a freshman and later transferred to Apollo High School in her sophomore year. Determined to become an actress, she left school during her junior year to work with James in Los Angeles .

David Ogden Stiers is an American actor, director, vocal actor, and musician, noted for his roles in Disney movies, as well as his performances in... the television series M*A*S*H as Major Charles Emerson Winchester III and the science fiction drama The Dead Zone as Reverend Gene Purdy. He is also known for the role of District Attorney Michael Reston in the Perry Mason TV movies. Stiers was born in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Margaret Elizabeth and Kenneth Truman Stiers. He attended Urbana High School, at the same time as film critic Roger Ebert. He later relocated to Eugene, Oregon, where he graduated from North Eugene High School and briefly attended the University of Oregon. He later ventured to San Francisco, where he performed with the California Shakespeare Theater, San Francisco Actors Workshop, and the improv group The Committee, whose members included Rob Reiner and Howard Hesseman. Soon after, Stiers studied at the Juilliard School as a member of the drama division's first class , which also included Patti LuPone and Kevin Kline.

The family returned to Jerusalem when Gil was two. At the age of seven, Shaham began taking violin lessons from Samuel Bernstein at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. In 1980, when Shaham was nine years old, he played for Isaac Stern, Nathan Milstein and Henryk Szeryng, and attended the Aspen Music School in Colorado, studying with Dorothy DeLay and Jens Ellerman. Shaham is married to the Australian-born violinist Adele Anthony. They have two children, Elijah and Ella Mei. At age 10, Shaham debuted as soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony, conducted by the violinist Alexander Schneider.

Charles "Chic" Sale , was an American actor and vaudevillian. Named at birth Charles Partlow Sale, he was a son of Frank Orville and Lillie Belle ... Sale, and brother of writer, actress Virginia Sale-Wren. In 1920, after a tour wherein he played "rural parts," he was engaged by Christie Studios on Gower Street in Los Angeles. According to Grace Kingsley in the Jan. 28 edition of the Los Angeles Times, page II11, "It now comes to light that Chic Sale, appearing at the Orpheum this week, will as soon as his present tour is finished, about the middle of next month, return to town in the Capacity of a Christie star. Mr. Sale's first photoplay will be a five-reeler, adapted from Irvin S. Cobb's 'The Smart Aleck,' after which he will be starred in other well-known stories suitable to his talents." The item goes on to mention that Charles Christie, business head of the Christie studio, entered into a contract with Exceptional Pictures to produce the Sale film, to be distributed through Robertson-Cole, and notes Sales' occasional appearances in the Ziegfeld Follies and the Shubert Winter Garden shows.

Nina Paley is an American cartoonist, animator and free culture activist. She directed the animated feature film Sita Sings the Blues. She was the... artist and often the writer of comic strips Nina's Adventures and Fluff, but most of her recent work has been in animation. Her early short films include Fetch!, The Stork, and The Wit & Wisdom of Cancer. Paley was born in Urbana, Illinois, to Hiram and Jean Paley in an American Jewish family. Her father was a mathematics professor at the University of Illinois and was mayor of Urbana, where they resided, for a term in the early 1970s. She attended local elementary and high schools, illustrating a "History of the North Pole" comic in collaboration with University High School history teacher Chris Butler, and attended the University of Illinois, studying art for two years. Her first animation was made when she was 13, it was recorded on Super-8 reels. Her first animation as an adult was short story "Follow your Bliss". Her second clay animation, "I Heart My Cat", was shot on a Krasnogorsk camera. These two, along with the "Cancer", were found on VHS with description “NINA PALEY DEMO REEL 1998.

Jay Walter Bennett was an American guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, producer, and singer-songwriter, best known for his work with the... band Wilco. Jay Bennett was born November 15, 1963 in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, a suburb Northwest of Chicago. Bennett was a founding member of Titanic Love Affair. The band recorded three albums in the 1990s: Titanic Love Affair , No Charisma , and Their Titanic Majesty's Request . He also played guitar with Steve Pride and His Blood Kin and Gator Alley. From 1994 through 2001 Bennett was a member of Wilco. Conflicts between front man Jeff Tweedy and Bennett that would contribute to Bennett's split with Wilco are visible in the Sam Jones film I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco. Although Bennett sought to act as both mixer and engineer for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Tweedy was unsure of Bennett's abilities against those of producer Jim O'Rourke. Bennett claimed he "tried to stay away from the mixing, having been reminded that Jim didn't like a lot of folks around when he was mixing.

Tom Harrell is a renowned American post-bop jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer and arranger. Harrell has won numerous awards and grants,... including multiple Trumpeter of the Year awards from Down Beat magazine, SESAC Jazz Award, BMI Composers Award, and Prix Oscar du Jazz. He also received a Grammy nomination for his big band album, Time's Mirror. He has been recorded on over 260 albums and continues to actively compose, record and tour extensively around the world. Tom Harrell was born in Urbana, Illinois, but moved to the San Francisco Bay Area at the age of five. He started playing trumpet at eight and within five years, started playing gigs with local bands. In 1969 he graduated from Stanford University with a music composition degree and joined Stan Kenton's orchestra, touring and recording with them throughout 1969.
