Les Enfoirés , is the name given to the singers and performers in the yearly charity concert for the Restaurants du Cœur . On January 26,... 1986, French humorist Coluche, who had set up Les Restos du Cœur a few months earlier, invited a number of artists and public figures to appear on television as a promotional move. The band, whose line-up was never the same, was dubbed "Les Enfoirés" in reference to one of Coluche's catchwords. After Coluche died in a motorbike accident his widow, Véronique Colucci, called on those who had participated to continue his actions, and the band was revived for a further television show. The concept has since evolved into an annual concert, bringing together up to forty artists and celebrities from various backgrounds. The funds raised by the concerts and derived records under the name "Enfoirés" are donated to Les Restos du Cœur. One of the key features of Les Enfoirés is "La Chanson des Restos", a song which became a sort of hymn to the charity, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, a long-time supporter of the organisation.

Barclay Records is a French record label founded in the mid-1950s by Eddie Barclay under the alias, Edouard Ruault. Eddie Barclay also founded the Riviera label in the early-1950s. Artists in Barclay Record's extensive back catalog include Dalida, Charles Aznavour, Léo Ferré, Henri... Salvador, Jacques Brel, Jean Ferrat, Mireille Mathieu, Danielle Licari, Les Chaussettes Noires, Eddy Mitchell, Hugues Aufray, Noir Désir, Mika, The Wild Magnolias, Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti, Modjo, Rachid Taha, and Jimi Hendrix. Barclay Records also had operations outside of France, most notably in the United States and Canada. Working with well-known composers and arrangers such as Raymond Lefèvre and Michel Colombier, the Canadian outfit carried such artists as Diane Dufresne, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Claude Léveillée, Claude Dubois, Renée Claude, Stéphane Venne, Isabelle Pierre, Paul Baillargeon, Robert Charlebois, and Béatrice Martin . To note, Eddie Barclay worked with Sid Vicious and Malcolm McLaren on the Great Swindle documentary film and album, including Vicious' song "My Way".

Rock music is a genre of popular music that developed during and after the 1960s, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States. Rock music also drew strongly on a number of other genres such as blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical and other musical sources. Musically, rock has centered around the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with bass guitar and drums. Typically, rock is song-based music usually with a 4/4 time signature utilizing a verse-chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse and common musical characteristics are difficult to define. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis. The dominance of rock by white, male musicians has been seen as one of the key factors shaping the themes explored in rock music. Rock places a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship, live performance, and an ideology of authenticity than pop music.
