Game Overview

Captain Blue has retired from being a superhero and has decided to direct a movie. He's having a problem casting the lead role, though. So along with his sexy assistant, Sprocket, Captain Blue hatches a plan to hold an audition in the form of a series of all-out brawls. The toughest and most stylish will certainly win, and that someone will be cast as the lead in the movie.

The Good

Great storyline featuring familiar Viewtiful Joe characters, This game retains the slick presentation and style the series is known for, Good music and voice acting.

The Bad

The action is just too chaotic and confusing, It's often difficult to tell where your character is on the screen, especially in multiplayer, Battles consist of frenzied, unsatisfying button-mashing, Unbalanced cast of characters.

The Bottom Line

Created by Capcom, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble utilizes the presentation and settings from the first two action games and combines both with a new play style inspired by battle-centric fighting games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee. The title pits players as popular characters from the series, including Joe, Captain Blue and Silvia, and challenges them to use special skills and their environments to take each other out in fight free-for-alls. During the matches, gamers can obtain specially crafted "VFX Orbs" that -- when the L or R buttons are pressed -- will enable them to unleash special VFX moves. The game boast a four-player ready "party battle mode," according to Capcom. The mode enables four recognizable VJ characters to duke it out, using special moves, in variously stylized stages.

New versus gameplay for the Viewtiful Joe universe --The gloves come off during the "˜audition' as players participate in this intense versus fighting action; a first for the award-winning series.
All-star cast of playable characters -- Reacquaint yourself with familiar faces or discover new and original characters from the TV anime series including Sylvia, Alastor, Sprocket, an ice princess that intimidates people with her cold stares, and Captain Blue Junior, Captain Blue's sidekick who calls himself "˜Junior'.
Interactive environments -- In addition to new set designs, players will be able to use enemies and background elements to attack their opponents.
Two different modes of play: Story Mode -- A single player mode where gamers face off against the AI-controlled characters and advance through the story Multiplayer Battle Mode -- Duke it out with up to three other players and see who reigns on the big screen
