Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is a German manufacturer of commercial vehicles headquartered in Hannover and a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group. Originally part of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, since 1995 it has operated as a separate marque and company. Volkswagen's first joint venture into trucks outside of their own LT range was with MAN Nutzfahrzeuge from 1977–1993. Truck production started in 1979 and ended in 1993 with 72,000 units produced.
