Ross–Ade Stadium is a stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana, United States. It is the home of the Purdue University Boilermakers football team.... The stadium was built to replace Stuart Field, which had been hosting Purdue football since 1892. It is named for David E. Ross and George Ade, the principal benefactors. Ross–Ade Stadium opened on November 22, 1924 with a seating capacity of 13,500 and standing room for an additional 5,000 people. A series of additions and renovations pushed the seating capacity to almost 68,000 . In 2001 Purdue University began a $70 million renovation, which led to a reduced seating capacity of 62,500. In the spring of 2000, it was announced that Ross–Ade would undergo a three-phase renovation, beginning the following year. A breakdown of each phase is as follows: While originally thought that both Phases II and III would be solely dependent upon future ticket sales, Athletic Director Morgan Burke indicated in early 2009 that the project may move forward in the near future, regardless of season ticket sales.

Mary Anissa Jones was an American child actress known for her role as Buffy on the CBS sitcom Family Affair. She died from combined drug... intoxication at the age of 18. Jones was born in West Lafayette, Indiana. Her maternal grandparents were Lebanese; her middle name means little friend in Arabic . Her parents were students at Purdue University at the time of her birth and they soon moved to Playa Del Rey, California. When she was two years old her mother enrolled Jones in dance classes. In 1964 when she was six, Jones' mother took her to an open audition for a breakfast cereal commercial, which became her first television appearance. She attended Paseo Del Rey Grammar School . Jones was eight when her acting skills drew the attention of television producers and she was cast as Elizabeth "Buffy" Patterson Davis on the CBS sitcom Family Affair . In the opening plotline her character was one of three siblings sent to live with her Uncle Bill and his butler Mr. French after the children's parents died in a car accident.

The etymology of the word is disputed, but the leading theory as advanced by the Indiana Historical Bureau and the Indiana Historical Society has "Hoosier" originating from the upland South region of the U.S. as a derogatory slang term for a rough countryman, a country bumpkin. The state's name means "Land of the Indians," or simply "Indian Land.
