What to Expect When You're Expecting is a 2012 American romantic comedy film directed by Kirk Jones from a screenplay by Shauna Cross and Heather Hach and based on the book of the same name. It stars an ensemble cast of Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Ben Falcone, Rob Huebel, Anna Kendrick, Thomas Lennon, Joe Manganiello, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Rodrigo Santoro, Amir Talai, and Rebel Wilson. The film also features many celebrity cameos including Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole, the Black Eyed Peas member... Taboo, and former The Hills star Whitney Port. The film was released on May 18, 2012. The story follows five Atlanta couples who "suffer the many joys of the childbirth process". What to Expect When You're Expecting is based on the book of the same name written by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel; the screenplay was adapted by Heather Hach and re-written by Shauna Cross. Kirk Jones directed the film. Lionsgate acquired the worldwide distribution rights from Phoenix Pictures on January 14, 2010. On July 9, 2011 an open casting call took place for pregnant women and Ethiopians.
