Wilmore is a city in Jessamine County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 6,134 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 square miles , all of it land. Wilmore has two institutions of higher learning: Asbury Universityformerly Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary. While both are named after Francis Asbury, they are separate institutions. Wilmore is home to the Ichthus Music Festival, a gathering of Christian musical artists and speakers. Ichthus is an annual event usually occurring in June. Wilmore also hosts the Highbridge Film Festival. Established in 2005 as the Asbury College Film Festival, this has been the primary showcase for films produced by Asbury University's Media Communications students, but all entries are accepted. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,905 people, 1,638 households, and 1,215 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,239.
