Balnazzar is a fictional character in the Warcraft universe a fictional universe in which a series of computer game and book are set. Balnazzar was a... mighty dreadlord in the fictional world of Azeroth, who was left in charge of Lordaeron when Archimonde and The Burning Legion traveled West to Kalimdor. When he received word of the Legion's fall, he took control of The North-Eastern Kingdoms until he was defeated and captured by the army of the Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner. Sylvanas then ordered Balnazzar's brother, Varimathras, to kill him; after which Sylvanas' forces, with Varimathras as second in command, then took control of the region known as Tirisfal Glades. Balnazzar reappears in World of Warcraft as the true leader of the Scarlet Crusade's detachment in Stratholme. The members of the Crusade do not know that their leader is a dreadlord, as Balnazzar possessed the Paladin that leads them. In-game, players fight Dathrohan, who unexpectedly turns into Balnazzar when nearly defeated. The possible discontinuity of Balnazzar's survival is so far unexplained. In the game, he implies that he faked his own death.

Baron Rivendare is the final boss of the undead side of Stratholme in the World of Warcraft video game. He is the death knight leader of the Scourge... forces in the city of Stratholme, a former noble of Lordaeron who coordinates the efforts of the Lich King in the Plaguelands. He resides in Slaughter Square, atop his fierce undead mount the Deathcharger. He kidnapped and imprisoned Ysida, an agent of the Argent Dawn. The undead side is reached through the main entrance of Stratholme or through the Elder Service Entrance, which is opened with the Key to the City, attained from Magistrate Barthilas . When all of the bosses are defeated and the rooms they guarded cleared, you may reach Baron in slaughter square. You must first kill several high level elite undead creatures, kill Ramstein the Gorger, kill a swarm of level 60 non-elite skeletons and zombies, and fight the number of black guard that emerges from the gate. . After all of this, the Baron will yell for you to enter. When he is attacked, he will attack with his sword and summon wave after wave of easy skeletons to kill your casters and healers.

Cairne Bloodhoof is the leader of the Tauren people in the Warcraft universe. A wise and fearless leader, he rules the Tauren from their capital city... of Thunder Bluff. Ancient even by Tauren standards , it is assumed that he is training his son, Baine Bloodhoof, to one day take his place. It is said that Cairne is one of the most dangerous mortals alive: not only is he a powerful warrior, but also a spiritual shaman. Decades of leading his people and fighting the Centaur have left Cairne with great wisdom as well as brilliant strategic prowess. Cairne is physically formidable as well, and it is rumored that he can uproot a great tree with only his bare hands. Strangely in Warcraft 3 he wields an axe while the regular tauren wield ancestral totems. A mighty warrior, he is responsible for uniting the Tauren tribes to fight against the Centaur, their ancestral enemy who had driven them to the brink of extinction.

Captain Placeholder was an NPC in Blizzard Entertainment's MMORPG World of Warcraft. He first appeared in the beta version of the game as a temporary... measure, allowing players to instantly teleport from Menethil Harbor to the town of Auberdine , when some of the boat paths had yet to be implemented. After the retail launch a glitch in the normal operation of the Menethil Harbor-Auberdine boat path prompted Blizzard to reinstate Captain Placeholder until a fix could be included in an upcoming patch, and the Captain quickly became quite popular among the retail subscribers. Blizzard fixed the glitch in an April 2005 patch, which also removed the Captain. Fans of the character quickly began petitioning Blizzard for his return in one fashion or another, even to the point of recording a song entitled "The Lament of Captain Placeholder, by Eledainn of Dragonmaw".

Rob Pardo is Executive Vice President of Game Design at Blizzard Entertainment. Previously he was the lead designer of World of Warcraft. In 2006, he was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Rob Pardo has been credited on the following games: Pardo appears in animated form in the South Park episode Make Love, Not Warcraft, which deals with World of Warcraft. He was Guild Master of the EverQuest guild... Legacy of Steel, which accomplished many world-firsts. He met friend and now coworker Tigole during his time in Legacy of Steel. Tigole would go on to replace him as guild leader and was eventually offered a position as designer alongside Rob.

Tom "Kalgan" Chilton was a lead game designer for Blizzard Entertainment and is a lead designer for the MMORPG World of Warcraft. He has been referred to as "Blizzard's PvP guru." Chilton, along with Rob Pardo and Jeffrey Kaplan, were the three Lead Designers for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade,, he was one of six Game Designers. Chilton was on the developer panels at BlizzCon 2005 in October 2005 and BlizzCon 2007 in August 2007. At... BlizzCon 2005, he was on the developer panels for discussions about character classes, dungeon creation, raids, and battlegrounds. At BlizzCon 2007, he was on the developer panels for discussions about classes, PvP, user interface and mods, and professions and items. He also appeared on numerous pannels during BlizzCon 2009. He previously worked for Origin Systems and was Lead Designer for Ultima Online: Age of Shadows. Chilton attended the University of Arizona, and is a fan of the webcomic PvP.
