Wrong Turn is a 2003 American action slasher film, directed by Rob Schmidt, and written by Alan B. McElroy. The film was shot in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and stars Desmond Harrington, Eliza Dushku, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Sisto, Lindy Booth and Kevin Zegers. It is the first film in the Wrong Turn franchise which has since grown to include two direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray sequels and one prequel. This film was criticized for being a copycat of the 1977 horror film, The Hills Have Eyes. Two college students, Halley Smith and Rich Stoker are rock climbing in the remote West Virginia forest. As... Rich reaches the top of a cliff and prepares to help Halley, he is suddenly murdered. After Halley begins to struggle, someone begins to pull her up the cliff by her climbing rope. She cuts the rope and falls to the ground. Halley then attempts to escape to her car but trips over a piece of barb wire before being pulled back into the woods and killed. Chris Flynn , a medical student, is driving through the mountains of West Virginia on his way to a job interview. Due to a chemical spill in the road ahead, he is forced to take a different route.
