Tokyo [toːkʲoː], English: /ˈtoʊki.oʊ/; officially Tokyo Metropolis , is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan. Tokyo is the capital of Japan, the center of the Greater Tokyo Area, and the largest metropolitan area of the world. It is the seat of the Japanese... government and the Imperial Palace, and the home of the Japanese Imperial Family. Tokyo is in the Kantō region on the southeastern side of the main island Honshu and includes the Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands. Tokyo Metropolis was formed in 1943 from the merger of the former Tokyo Prefecture and the city of Tokyo . The Tokyo Metropolitan government administers the 23 special wards of Tokyo , which cover the area that was the city of Tokyo, as well as 39 municipalities in the western part of the prefecture and the two outlying island chains. The population of the special wards is over 8 million people, with the total population of the prefecture exceeding 13 million.

Production I.G is a Japanese anime studio and production enterprise, which was founded on December 15, 1987 by Mitsuhisa Ishikawa. It is headquartered in Kokubunji, Tokyo, Japan. Production I.G has been involved in the production of several anime television series, original video animation and theatrical films, video game animated cut-scenes, video game design and development, as well as music publishing and management. Among its prominent... works are Patlabor and the Ghost in the Shell series. Production I.G. is also known in the video game world for helping develop the intros and artwork for games like Namco Tales Studio's famous title: "Tales of Symphonia." The letters I and G actually derive from the names of the company founders Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and popular character designer Takayuki Goto. Production I.G is one of 50 other studios a part of The Association of Japanese Animations . Initially founded as "IG Tatsunoko Limited" in 1987, it was a break-off branch-studio of Tatsunoko Productions which created Zillion.
