Jelena Dokić is an Australian female professional tennis player. During the height of her career, she played for Serbia and Montenegro and... reached a career-high ranking of World No. 4 on 19 August 2002. After several family-related difficulties , she slowly slipped down the rankings in 2006. She made a serious return to tennis in 2008, and after winning three ITF tournaments that year, rose to World No. 187 going into the 2009 Australian Open. She finished 2009 in the top 100, but declined in 2010. Her 2011 season has seen a resurgence in Dokić's form and abilities. The highlights of Dokić's career include reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon and the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and reaching the quarterfinals at the French Open in 2002 and the Australian Open in 2009. Goran Višnjić is a Croatian actor who has appeared in American and British films and television productions. He is best known for his role... as Dr. Luka Kovač in the hit television series ER. Now credited as Goran Visnjic in his English-language work, he adopted the simplified spelling of his name when he came to the United States in the late '90s, believing it would be more accessible to American audiences. Visnjic was born in the Dalmatian coastal city of Šibenik, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. He has one older brother, Joško. His father, Željko Višnjić, was a bus driver, and his mother, Milka, worked in a food market. He appeared in plays throughout his childhood and made his screen debut at age 16 in the controversial Yugoslav film Braća po materi , playing a young Ustaša. As Yugoslavia began to dissolve, Višnjić was serving a year-long tour of duty with the Yugoslav People's Army . He left the JNA and returned to Šibenik, where he joined the nascent Croatian Army in defending his hometown against JNA-supported Krajina Serbs.

On January 15, 2006, Kostelić became only the third woman in World Cup history to win World Cup races in all of the sport's five disciplines. In the summer of 2006, she decided to not compete in the 2007 season, due to chronic knee and back pain. She had endured ten knee surgeries and thyroid surgery during her career.

He began his artistic life playing viola in various orchestras, ranging from the cabaret to the symphonic. After moving to Belgrade, at the age of 30 he began his music studies as the only student of the composer Petar Bingulac. Years later , he took composition lessons with the Viennese dodecaphonist Alfred Uhl, at the Vienna Music Academy . A crucial moment in his work was winning first prize at the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition for composers in Brussels in 1965 with his symphony "Lesta". This prize was won in competition with other 250 composers from 26 countries. In 1970s Brucci did a lot to improve Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, where he was the first dean, an Academy with best Music Department in ex-Yugoslavia.

Šovagović borned in Ladimirevci, Filip Šovagović has appeared in many films and TV shows in the last decade and a half, gradually building a reputation of his own. His films include No Man's Land, Oscar winner, and in 2005 he made his directorial début with the film Pušća Bistra. Ivica Kostelić is a World Cup alpine ski racer from Croatia. He specializes in slalom and combined, but is also one of the few alpine World Cup... ski racers able to score points in all disciplines. After considerable success in junior competitions, Kostelić's World Cup career has alternated between triumph and injury. His main accomplishments include a World Championship gold medal in slalom in 2003, Olympic silver medal in slalom in 2010, Olympic silver medals in combined in 2006 and 2010 , and the overall World Cup title in 2011. Kostelić has scored a total of with 24 World Cup race victories and a total of 52 World Cup podiums during his career. He won the slalom World Cup title in 2002 and 2011, and the combined World Cup title in 2011 and 2012. Since 2008, he has finished among the top six in the overall World Cup standings each season .

Zlatko Baloković was a Croatian violinist. He was born in Zagreb, Croatia , and began violin lessons at age ten. He made such progress that,... after three years, he was sent to Prague to continue his studies at the "Meisterschule" under the guidance of Otakar Ševčík. In 1913, already excellent and renowned, the invitation came to him to play with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. That year he won the annual Austrian "Staatspreis" and soon made artistic tours to Berlin, Vienna, and Genova. He stayed in Trieste during World War I. After living in Britain from 1920 to 1923, he accepted an offer for an American tour, so on January 1, 1924, he left for New York. In 1926, he married Joyce Borden, heiress to the Borden family fortune. In the 1920s and 1930s, the couple toured the European continent, performing predominantly for the continent's royalty. Upon the outbreak of World War II, he settled with their adopted children at Hillside Farm in Camden, Maine, where he became involved in many wartime political efforts and chaired six organizations: the Yugoslav Division of the U.S.

Zinka Milanov was a Croatian-born operatic spinto soprano who had a major career centred on the New York Metropolitan Opera. Born in Zagreb,... Croatia as Zinka Kunc , she studied with the Wagnerian soprano Milka Ternina and her assistant Marija Kostrenčić. She also studied in Milan with Campi and in Vienna with Stickgolt. On October 29, 1927, she made her operatic debut as Leonora in Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at the young age of 21. Her debut in her native Croatia, at the National Theatre in Zagreb, took place five weeks later as Marguerite in Charles Gounod's Faust After an early debut in Dresden , her teacher, Ternina, was not pleased and much work commenced to perfect her technique. She performed in Zagreb and Ljubljana almost exclusively for the next six years. Later she became a member of the New German Theatre in Prague, where all performances were sung in German. She was discovered there by Bruno Walter, who recommended her to Arturo Toscanini for a performance of Verdi's Requiem in Salzburg.

Tajči Cameron is a Croatian singer; she has since taken up citizenship and residence in the United States. As a pop star in the former... Yugoslavia in the late 1980s and early 1990s, she won the national selection of RTV Zagreb, SR Croatia and represented Yugoslavia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1990. The contest was held at Zagreb and she sang the song Hajde da ludujemo . Her Yugoslav music career was cut short by the breakup of Yugoslavia and subsequent war. She left her homeland in 1992 and pursued a career in stage musicals. She ended up in the United States, seeking television and recording work in the Los Angeles area. There she met Matthew Cameron, whom she married in 2000. She ended up performing music in Roman Catholic churches while auditioning for roles, some of which she turned down because they required nudity. They eventually relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, which was a more central location for her new focus in church music. Her independently released audio CD Need A Break is her latest work.

Ivica Šerfezi was a Croatian pop singer hailing from Zagreb. Šerfezi started singing in dance halls, and his first real success was a duet... with Domenico Modugno at the Maksimir Stadium, Zagreb . In the 1960s and the 1970s Šerfezi made many tours throughout Yugoslavia, East Germany, as well as the Soviet Union, and his concerts filled up 150 venues. His songs were often influenced by Greek folkore. The primary composer of his songs was Nikica Kalogjera. Some of his hit songs included "Suze liju plave oči" , "Ruže su crvene" , "Ksimeroni", etc. His career lasted for 46 years and he had 15 golden records. He also sang many duets with the very popular female Macedonian singer, Ljupka Dimitrovska. Šerfezi was nicknamed Šerfa, and called "the golden boy of home show business". He was an avid tennis and golf player, and in later years also a politician.
